FayeAge: 18-24Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Sweet an Humorous!May 6, 2013FayeAge: 18-24Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5A charming romance, full of hilarious situations!
Eddie and Margaret have planned for a future together, but when Margaret backs out, Linette Edwards is more than happy to step in, so that she can escape a nightmarish marriage arrangement set up by her greedy father. Along the way Linette meets new friends and invites them to come with her.
To say that Eddie is shocked to find Linette and her entourage on his doorstep, would be an understatement.
Will Eddie realize that the bride who showed up on his doorstep, is the bride of his heart?
An utterly charming tale, with plenty of humorous situations and sweet romance! The characters were both so likable and engaging, Linette had such a big heart. I really felt like in this book that characters truly got to know each other and that their love progressed naturally out of friendship and trust.
This was an utterly engaging, and wonderful tale. I loved the plot, the characters, and the Canadian setting! I can't wait for the rest of the series! Linda Ford is one of my favorite authors, and this was one of her best books yet! A wonderful read!
I received this ebook from the publisher in exchange for an honest review! Thank you!
ValerieBC, CanadaAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5A Substitute BrideMarch 4, 2013ValerieBC, CanadaAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Eddie Gardiner has been in Western Canada for a year and a half, preparing for his English fiancée , Margaret, to join him. Imagine his surprise when the stagecoach delivers Margaret's friend Linette Edwards instead--with a young widow and (unrelated) orphan boy in tow. Linette was sure she was a fine replacement for Margaret, who decided she couldn't brave the Canadian west for a man she barely knew.
So here's Linette, expecting a welcome, and Eddie, expecting Margaret, and western Canada, expecting an early blizzard. Eddie knows he can't send Linette back at this time of year, so she'll have to stay until spring. Linette figures this will be enough time to convince him that she's the bride for him. No way is she returning to England.
Take Eddie's loyalty to Margaret and his desperation to please his father. Toss in Linette's passion for giving aid to the unfortunate, and you have plenty of humorous (for the reader!) conflict for this unlikely pair as they fall in love over the course of one harsh Canadian winter. Linda Ford pulled this story to its HEA (happily-ever-after) with a sure hand.
IreneUnited States4 Stars Out Of 5A quick romanceJanuary 24, 2013IreneUnited StatesQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4This book is one of the Love Inspired Historical books from the Love Inspired book collection. There are so many great books and these written with historical romances have all been pretty good. This particular book is about a couple who have never met and how they end up together is the whole of the story. There are sub stories that are just as good as the main story! You will definitely enjoy the interaction of the two main characters as they get to know each other.
I gave this book 4/5 stars. I thought the storyline was just typical, nothing unique about it so it just did not thrill me. I did think it was fast moving and had parts that were entertaining. If you are looking for a quick romance to read this would work fine.
I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading. I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.
