I found this book interesting for what it is. It is a collection of short novels about women marrying for convenience. I enjoyed the history included in the novels. I would suggest it to a friend that was looking for some light reading.

I totally love reading these 9-in-1 collections!

You can never go wrong getting one of them. Even if one isnt great enough, its short and not dragging and then you got eight more to impress you enough to talk about it the whole day.

Another thing that really impresses me about these collections is the historical period they are set in. people these days have just too many choices and they make a mockery of marriage because of them. These stories, people in them, even though have marriages of conveniences, their love and fear of the Lord and dedication to the vows they have spoken out of obligation lead them through happy and hard times keep them persistent in their dedication and thats why they get their happily ever after. Ever wonder why there is so little happiness today? Well people are focused too much on their emotion- today they feel in love and like being a great and obedient helpmeet, and they do all they can for their marriage, tomorrow they got a bee in their bonnet and they start looking for divorce attorney or even newer development is living with no obligation of marriage at all. Why commit when you can live with a girlfriend or boyfriend and dump them any time you get tired of them or meet someone new?

I was impressed by all nine stories, they are not religious but they show a truly Christian dedication to the person they committed their life to. I highly recommend it for all ages. Among the pages of emotional turmoil and sweet love filled moments there are advises and encouragements for a longing heart.

This is a book of nine sweet novellas. While I bought the book specifically to read the stories written by Gabrielle Meyer and Maureen Lang, I thoroughly enjoyed every one of the nine authors' stories. They are all equally sweet. These stories are also well written and the characters are very engaging. One nice thing about Barbour's nine-story collections is that each individual story is easy to read fairly quickly and there are still more to look forward to--until you come to The End! But then there are several of these nine-story collections, so reading through them all can keep you going for quite a while! I appreciate that Barbour can be trusted to put out sweet, faith-based stories.

I enjoyed this collection of nine novellas so much! I love marriage of convenience stories and it was so fun to have nine different takes on this theme. Some stories I liked better than others, however, I did have fun reading every one. Another fun thing about these collections is discovering new authors in a way that is low pressure. If I find that I am not a fan of a certain authors writing style, it is no big deal since these stories are novellas and shorter reads than a full-length novel.

I thought that, for the most part, the stories contained well-developed plots and characters. I connected with some characters and stories easier than others, but I really appreciated the diversity of setting, characters, and time periods from story to story. I definitely recommend this book to those who enjoy marriage of convenience stories.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
