Product Description

Introducing an exciting volume featuring the Messianic Complete Jewish Bible (CJB) and the newly-updated (2011) New International Version (NIV), side-by-side.
For the first time, readers who seek to compare the Evangelical Christian and Messianic Jewish Bibles need not buy them separately. The CJB and the 2011 NIV version may both be read in this one-of-a-kind parallel Bible. Bible study and small group study participants will enjoy the particular characteristics of both translations.
CJB
The Complete Jewish Bible (CJB) is the only English translation that is fully Jewish in its style and presentation of both the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament. Making no distinction between these major divisions of the Bible, it makes plain the Jewish historical and cultural background of the text; features the original Hebrew names for people, places, and concepts; and focuses on Messianic prophecy. Also included are the traditional weekly and holiday synagogue readings.
NIV
The New International Version (NIV) is the world's most popular modern English Bible. The NIV articulates God's unchanging Word by reproducing, as closely as possible, the reading experience of the original audience, providing the optimum combination of transparency to the original documents and clear communication of their original meaning. Features the text of the 2011 update.

Editorial Reviews

The Complete Jewish Bible, New International Version: Side-by-Side Reference Edition (2011) contains the 1998 Complete Jewish Bible, (New Testament translated from the Greek by David H. Stern; Old Testament is a paraphrase of the 1917 Jewish Publication Society Tanakh by Stern). The New International Version is the recently published 2011 revised NIV text. 'Side-by-Side' is the current way publishers have begun to describe what has been called 'Parallel' in the past. The 2176-page, hefty volume is formatted with two columns on each page, the CJB on the left and the NIV on the right. Most proper nouns in the CJB are given Hebrew spellings. It contains a few footnotes, mostly giving variant renderings."

I received my Jewish/NIV Bible earlier than expected. As I thought, it is more than I expected it to be. As I read some of the familiar passegess, my eyes are opened to new truths and information. I have been taking my iPad to church for a few years now. Now, I think I will start taking my Jewish/NIV Bible just to be able to see the differences and likenesses first hand as the minister applies it. it is a great buy!!

I am interested in what the Jewish bible actually says from what our bibles say. It's like starting all over, I want more of everything, knowledge, what God has actually said, what the people actually did. Just a hint from my Rabbi, Ruth did not uncover Boaz's feet. Although CJB says feet.

Words cannot express how thankful I am to have discovered the CJB version, alongside the NIV. Wow, I never knew this book existed. I enjoy studying the Bible, and this version has helped me gain a better understanding of God's word. This is by far my favorite translation. I look forward to sharing it with family and friends.

I wonder if youre asking yourself if this is a review of another Bible or perhaps if you need another Bible. Maybe youre wondering whats unique about this one other than a different version alongside the New International Version. I want to share the reason why I bought myself this Bible. Like most people in the United States I own more than one Bible. I absolutely love studying His Word and different versions help bring forth various aspects that I would miss if I just read the same one repeatedly.

While doing various studies I came across a Messianic Jewish teacher who really opened my eyes to the richness of the Word I was missing by just reading an English translation whether NIV, NASB, HCSB, KJV, etc. This author is a gifted expounder and really challenged my heart to consider the depth of the Word. Recently, I was just perusing Amazon when I came across this Bible and read some of the reviews.

Having taught Bible studies or mentored for almost 36 years I found my hunger growing and my desire to go deeper. Here is a Bible in English with a Jewish Bible on one side and the NOV on the other. In the back, there is a glossary of terms for any words left in the original language translated to English so readers can look up terms to understand what they are reading.

There are no cross-references, no commentary at the bottom of the pages and very few footnotes. Here is Bible that helps Non-Jewish people to gain a richer experience of the Scriptures unlike anything else. As I have been using it to study, my heart has been touched, my walk with God enriched and my desire to grow expanding by leaps and bounds!

My husband loves my Bible. When I showed it to him, I almost didnt get it back! My sons are intrigued and plan to get their own copies. All I can say is and ask is that you grab a copy and sit down just to read the Complete Jewish Bible and see if you arent stirred to learn more about Him!

Perfect for a Jew who thought he had to give up Judaism to follow Jesus. Immediate translation of difficult Hebrew words lies just across each page to save looking up in another volume.
