This book was another totally different reading experience about Father Tim and Cynthia. Not much about Mitford, other than Emma Newland's emails which I thoroughly enjoyed. Ms. Karon's wit and sense of humour are what kept me going throughout all the Mitford series. Her love of animals is so evident and her wisdom in dealing with children has just shone through them all. However, this book brought many new characters to light and the incredible amount of detail, whether about scenery or people, made it seem like you were there. I enjoyed following the Doctor's journal and was glad that they visited the graves of people mentioned in it. It is sometimes hard to remember that these are works of fiction, they seem so real. I loved the local scenery and the vernacular of the people we met. I do appreciate the fact that she gives so much appreciation to those who have helped her in her research and writing. We know that any book is a team effort but she is so willing to share the credit. Great book and worth re-reading, time and again.
