Clive Staples Lewis (1898-1963) was one of the intellectual giants of the twentieth century and arguably one of the most influential writers of his day. He was a Fellow and Tutor in English Literature at Oxford University until 1954, when he was unanimously elected to the Chair of Medieval and Renaissance Literature at Cambridge University, a position he held until his retirement. He wrote more than thirty books, allowing him to reach a vast audience, and his works continue to attract thousands of new readers every year. His most distinguished and popular accomplishments include Out of the Silent Planet, The Great Divorce, The Screwtape Letters, and the universally acknowledged classics The Chronicles of Narnia. To date, the Narnia books have sold over 100 million copies and have been transformed into three major motion pictures.

A Who's Who of famous British actors and actresses lined up to read this classic, so simply hearing voices that you'll likely recognize from stage and screen is a pleasure.
But Lewis himself -- and millions of parents since his era -- regard these novels as opportunities to read aloud. That makes them perfect material for these masterful performers -- and lets us, even as adults, become children again as listen.
This set is unabridged, which will be greatly appreciated by all Lewis fans. Nothing worse than investing in an audio version of a best-loved book and finding your own favorite bits missing in the new rendition. Here, every magic wand, gleaming sword and swish of the Great Lion's tail is faithfully included.
Shamuel2 Stars Out Of 5Interesting story - yet take much caution!January 12, 2016ShamuelQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0Once, when I had read the chronicle almost to the end, I was thrilled. The stories in the chronicles were surprising and imaginative.
HOWEVER, now I know that in the ending book of the Chronicle, author C. S. Lewis gives dubious teachings that totally contradict with the whole teaching of the Bible.
The chronicle, written by the well-know Christian figure, very explicitly claims in the last book ('The final battle of Narnia') that Aslan (as you may have heard, there are obviously clear references to Jesus throughout the Chronicles) and "Tars" (some weird "monster god") are the same.
Sounds tough, right? Hard to believe it, since so many believers have shared it with their children? Here's the translation of that claim found in chapter 15, with my translation from the Finnish version: "[Aslan says:] My child, all that you've made to serve Tars, I take it as your service to me". That's some bizarre teaching! So, it clearly states that believing in any other god is the same as believing in Jesus Christ and His Father. (If you dont believe me on this, you might take a look at it yourself). So Lewis totally opposes the message of the Bible and the Gospels.
What's more, this claim is intentionally in the book. A friend of mine has told me about having read an article written by Lewis, the teaching of which was perfectly in line with this incomprehensible distortion of the Word (as you may have noticed, its a seriously twisted form of Matthew 25:40). This is a tough reality, considering that the books (as separate) have sold more than 100 million.
Lauri4 Stars Out Of 5September 20, 2013LauriQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 5We have enjoyed this set very much. They are wonderful for long trips in a vehicle. Sometimes I think the voices are a little overdone, particularly when a man is reading a girls voice. They really don't have to be quite that high! But still we find them well done.

This is Not the Focus on the Family Version. I prefer Radio/Audio Drama with a full cast.
This product is simply 1 person reading the book - good for most people I suppose - but not the exciting full cast of actors one would expect that brings C.S. Lewis's books to greater heights of realism that pulls one into Narnia.

Really wonderful job by the readers.

Each book on cd is read by a different person, and the voices they use are wonderful. It captures the attention of children! We like to take it with us wherever we go. Its perfect for long trips in the car, when the kids get bored just pop it in and instantly their hooked! I have also found for my youngest learning to read its fun for her to follow along with the book.
