Cassie1 Stars Out Of 5Be careful!December 2, 2018CassieI read the first four books of this series, but then I researched it and found an article written by David J. Meyer. He was a former occultist and witch who was saved by the Grace of God. But, because of his knowledge of witchcraft, he was able to detect in the books devil worship, occult ideas, and teachings that contradicts the Bible. You might say: "But Aslan the lion is a picture of Christ!" Well, you can believe that if you like, but the witch covens claim that he is a picture of Lucifer. You might then say: "But what if there is witchcraft? As long as I don't do it, it isn't wrong!" The Bible says in 1 Thessalonians 5:22: "Abstain from all appearance of evil." And in Psalms 101:3: "I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me." Is it right to let a book with underlying ideas of witchcraft into your home? And into the hands and minds of children? I highly encourage you to research this powerful influence before reading further. I have tried to portray what I believe to be true.
You can read this and ignore it, but as William Wilberforce said: "You can choose to look the other way but you can never say again that you did not know."

Allen W. Jerkins5 Stars Out Of 5March 21, 2004Allen W. JerkinsThis review was written for The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician's Nephew, Hardcover.Amazingly, I did not begin reading The Chronicles Of Narnia until ten years following my conversion at age nineteen. I count THE GREAT DIVORCE, MERE CHRISTIANITY, and THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS among my most favored books, and my wife purchased this book for me as an anniversary gift with the idea to buy successive volumes in the series on following anniversaries.I was completely entranced by Narnia, particularly the great lion king Aslan. I read it extremely rapidly and was disappointed when it was through. Very pithy and witty, as is customary for C.S. Lewis; he aroused my hunger to experience heaven. I eagerly anticipate reading the rest of the series.
