One of my favorite authors of Christmas books is Melody Carlson, and once again she hits it out of the park with this one.

A sweet novella of family drama, forgiveness, second chances, and all things Christmas encompass all the feelings of this book. I highly recommend it to those who love reading Christmas books. You will not want to put it down until you have completed it.

The characters are well developed, so much to the point that there are a few you will find that you really do not like, others you will love.

Thanks to NetGalley and Revell for the advanced copy of this book. The opinions expressed are my own.

I look forward to author Melody Carlson's annual Christmas novella. This year's book, The Christmas Tree Farm, has a gentle charm that takes the reader to the heart of two families living in Oregon. With easily readable writing, Ms. Carlson fleshes out each of the characters so that the reader feels as though they are long-time acquaintances or friends.

The setting is two adjacent farms - or rather a farm and a piece of land. The Christmas tree farm has been devastated by fire along with much of the area. We've all seen the destructive and massive fires that have raged in California, Oregon, and Canada. So it isn't hard to image that this tree farm was partially destroyed by one of those raging fires.

Personalities clash. Old teen loves are rekindled by settled, mature adults. Conflict over farm usage. Conflict over other issues both personal and business.

All in all, this is a wonderful little book to relax and read through. Not too "Christmassy" but it takes place during the season. And mostly it's a wonderful little book about family.

Thirty-eight-year-old Madison has come home to the old homestead, a Christmas tree farm, that has been almost destroyed by fire and neglect. The question is can Madison save it. And what about her twenty plus year crush on the boy next door.

The author once again delivers a Christmasy romance filled with very realistic human relationships: the sibling rivalry between Madison and her younger sister Addie, the parent and child relationship between Maddie and her mom (and can I just insert an UGH here). The author, through fiction, shows how not to parent! But I also laughed when reading about the Thanksgiving dinner disaster.

I really enjoyed reading this book and do recommend it. However, other than mentioning going to church, there was no real Christian content, so this really is just a quick, clean, Christmas romance. I received a copy of this book from the publisher. I am freely writing a review - all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Melody Carlson has been writing a Christmas novella every year for several years. I always look forward to reading her newest one, and this one was a delightful Christmas read.

I like stories centered around Christmas tree farms, so that was a bonus for me. The book has it all: reunited lovers, squabbling sisters, absent mother, romance, jealousy, secrets, reminiscing of days gone by, and hope.

Madison takes on a huge project of getting the Christmas tree farm ready for Christmas, and for future Christmases, while her sister fights her every inch of the way. Madison's hope and determination truly made the book what it was - a great read. Everything else was just things that made it extra great.

I enjoyed the book, and it made me want to visit a Christmas tree farm....but it is only October. :)

If you only read one Christmas story this year, you may want to check this one out.

Special thanks to the publisher for an advance copy of this novel. I was under no obligation to provide a review and the thoughts contained herein are my own.

Homecomings can be hard. This is what Maddison learns when she returns to her grandparents* Christmas tree farm after several years away. Her younger sister, Addie, is not exactly excited to see her. The acreage burned in the wildfire has not been replanted to prepare for future seasons. And the people who have settled over on the Thompson place kick up a lot of noise and dust with their dirt bikes. Coming home is particularly complicated when the noisy, dusty people next door are Maddison*s first love and his daughter. Factoring in Addie*s insistence that Maddison may not interfere with her efforts to catch Gavin*s heart and the way he keeps looking at her, nothing is going to come easily this Christmas. What at first looks like a love triangle turns into a heaping pile of love spaghetti when Addie and Maddison*s mom arrives, then Gavin*s oldest daughter arrives with opinions about her father*s love life, and his younger daughter has an opinion of her own. Saving the tree farm and making up her own mind about the one who got away are all Maddison wants to do. In true Melody Carlson style, this complicated dish turns into a delightful Christmas dinner just in time for our favorite holiday season. Do not miss your chance to cozy up with The Christmas Tree Farm and its complicated, but mostly lovable characters.

Thank you to the author and publisher for allowing me a copy to read and review. All opinions expressed here are my own and are completely genuine.
