When Della, a homesick cow from Delaware, complains to Grace Pig about not having snow for Christmas at her new home in North Carolina, she finds out what Real Christmas is all about and in the process, she and her new barnyard friends have the adventure of a lifetime.
Along the way, the farm animals encounter a blues-singing Mule; a couple named Mary and Joseph who are about to have a baby in an old shed near the barn; Gnarly Possum, the leader of the Dismal Swamp Gang; and Grace Pig's wise old mentor and friend, A. Owl.
These and other memorable animal characters are wonderfully brought to life in 23 full-color paintings by Lois Virginia Babb in the pages of this classic illustrated family Christmas book that is destined to be read aloud in countless homes each Christmas Season.98 pages.

Guy5 Stars Out Of 5The Animals learn the Real Meaning of ChristmasAugust 17, 2015GuyQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5That this story preface was written by Theologian J.I. Packer should alert you this is no ordinary Christmas story. The artwork alone is worth getting the book. This is a wonderful story kids and adults will long remember, a classic worth sharing every year. The story and the animals are simply wonderful. It starts with the animals learning the Christmas story. Their questions lead to learning about the Story of Real Christmas in the context of the Gospel, why Christ came on that night. And finally, the animals catch the Christmas Spirit themselves. learning a great lesson about how Christmas can make a difference in their lives. I had the pleasure of reading the story to three children age 9 - 12, and they would not let me stop until we finished the whole story. They were enraptured, and I loved reading the story. I will donate this book to our church and church school library. There is no book like it I know of for young people to fully grasp what Christ's birth meant for all of us.
