During World War II, Amelia Richards had been serving as USO hostess, when she met James Bradley at the USO New Year’s Eve dance. They immediately fell in love and he proposed 4 days later. That same afternoon he was commanded to report back to the ship. In late 1944, Amelia received news from the War Department that his plane was shot down in the South Pacific. Now she is alone with their infant son Jimmy and the dilemma of contacting James’ parents in Montana to let them know that they are grandparents. Amelia prays that they will accept this grandchild even if she and James did not have the chance to marry?

The Christmas Blessing by Melody Carlson, 2017
I first read Melody Carlson's Whispering Pine series and continued to read her Tales of Grace Chapel Inn books, followed by single titles. The Christmas Blessing is 2017's release just in time to add to her previous Christmastime stories. Set in the early 1940's, this story is during the unsettled time of WWII. As today, families were separated and loved ones longing for news. Amelia Richards receives dreaded news and prepares to leave San Diego to go to her baby's grandparents ~ whom she has not met previously. Will love's journey conquer the unknown reception when she gets there?
Becoming ill, both she and her baby come under the care of Dr. George Bradley, a very vital person in the story. His wisdom in prayer outshines any uncertainty brought by the interweaving of their lives.
A courageous story of hope, bravery, and most of all trust, Amelia's love for her child is selflessly demonstrated. A very visual story, the author brought the characters to life and each one's perspective is shown.
I really liked this story.

She lives life like she Iwas married to the man in the war. He was killed in the war before they moved to be married. She lost her job instead of living off her roommate she took the baby and hey wait now I can't tell you everything , it will ruin it the rest is so lovely , interesting, adorable and exciting . I would have loved thiss book totally except for the fact that she had this baby out of wedlock but we are so forgiving people , but was that asked for? This book is tender , reconciliatory , faith based and twisty. I received a copy of this book from the Publisher and Netgalley; all the opinions expressed in this in this review are alll my own.
vjonesSt Paul, MNAge: 45-54Gender: female3 Stars Out Of 5cute Christmas StoryOctober 27, 2017vjonesSt Paul, MNAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0Quick feel good holiday read is how I would describe The Christmas Blessing. . I am sure that this book will bring a tear to many. It is a story of hope, love, loss, and making difficult choices.
Amelia has a child out of wedlock. Her fianc is off to war before he knows and Amelia receives word that he is presumed dead. Amelia is faced with how to support herself and her child. She has no family support and was completely on her own. Novellas are intended to be short which doesnt allow the time to really develop characters. I had a hard time deciding what I thought of Amelia and the choices she made. I think I would have enjoyed this more had it been a full story with a little more background or story. The spiritual aspect was weak at best. But it was a cute read that I am sure will be enjoyed by those wanting a light read.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Carol Kelley4 Stars Out Of 5A Christmas MiracleOctober 23, 2017Carol KelleyQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0Amelia discovers she is going to have a baby when she discovers the father has died in a plane crash as he is serving in WWII. She doesn't know what she can do so she decides to take her son and travel with the last of her funds to his grandparents. When she arrives she and the baby are sick and in desperate need. A challenging time is ahead and a time to learn to lean on God and trust in his mercies. A lovely Christmas story. Thank you Net Galley and Revell for allowing me review this story. I was not required to give a positive review.
CafinatedReads20095 Stars Out Of 5Heartwarming Reading!October 12, 2017CafinatedReads2009Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Ms. Carlson is back with another emotionally moving Christmas novella. I love her Christmas novellas and will forever read them. She brings wonderful messages from God and mixes them into a captivating story line, and blends it all with characters that steal your heart and become your family til the end.
This Christmas story is set during one of my favorite time periods to read about: WWII, and follows Amelia and her son. I loved how Ms. Carlson transported me back in time. I loved following Amelia on her journey of pain and hope, and longing. The way I felt reading this book, seeing Amelia come to terms with her situation, seeing God work on her heart, really refreshed my own.
If you love stories filled with hope, longing and an ending that will leave you wanting more from a superbly talented author, then this 5 star book is for you. Ms. Carlson delivers her readers a novella that you won't soon forget! Well done!
