Tell us a little about yourself. I have been involved in camp and church ministry for 35 years. My first book, The Christian Camp Counselor (1998), was used to train summer camp leaders across North and South America, and was translated into Portuguese and Spanish.
What was your motivation behind this project? For the past 14 years, I have been waiting for the next classic text on camp ministry to show up. When this didn't happen, my friend Mark Buchanan encouraged me to take on this task.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? The new book is much more concise, up-to-date, accessible and affordable. I want to make it possible for even the smallest, low-budget Christian camp to prepare their staff for a summer of ministry.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? I was amazed how quickly and readily the text flowed into publishable form - God's grace was evident. Also appreciated was the help of Dave Friesen (cover design) and Charis St. Pierre (editing).
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? God has blessed me with many godly examples of camp leadership over the years, most of them much younger than myself. They are well-represented in this book.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: I love feedback! Please let me know what works well for you in this book, and suggestions for future editions.
