This story picks up 3 months after Deputy US Marshall Maddison James was shot by a suspect that she and her partner Deputy US Marshall Jonas Quinn were transferring from one prison to another, when their helicopter crashed in the forest. While trying to hunt him down is when she was shot.

After 3 months of rehab Maddison James is ready to get back to work. She has followed her doctors orders and had time to emotionally heal along with the physical healing that had to be done. Throughout the 3 months her partner Jonas Quinn has been there with her, helping in as many ways as he can. They both have realized that they have crossed over the line of friendship into wanting more but they work together and neither wants to screw that up.

The case they are working on is a group of 4 who stake out, research, and then rob banks. Three people on the inside and one getaway driver. They are professional but Jonas believes they will make a mistake and Jonas & Maddison will be there to catch them.

This is a great story that you can enjoy on its own or when you read the series. Thank you Lisa for allowing me to participate as an early reader.

The Chase can be read as a stand alone but you will have more background and be more familiar with the characters if you read US Marshals, #1 The Escape first! US Marshal, Madison James and her partner, Jonas Quinn, are excellent protagonists as they work to capture a group of bank robbers! What if these bank robbers don't need the money but just want the thrill of pulling off a robbery? Who shot Madison three months ago? Who breaks into Madison's house? Lisa Harris writes lots of action in The Chase! If you enjoy reading suspense, you won't want to miss The Chase! I received an advance complimentary e-book through NetGalley. This is my honest opinion.

The Chase by Lisa Harris is the second book in the US Marshals series. Madison is back on the job after being shot three months earlier. Her first day back on the job she and her partner, Jonas, are assigned a case of a series of bank robberies.

This is a great story takes off three months after the first ends with the same characters so it is best to read this series in order. The author does a great job of filling in the background so this does make a good stand alone story as well. This is a well written story with wonderful characters. It is filled with lots of action and suspense. I enjoyed the friendship and loyalty Madison and Jonas have and the dedication Madison has towards her family.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley, this is my honest review.

US Marshal Madison James is back in action after being shot (see book 1 in the series for previous events). Her first day at work with her partner, Jonas Quinn, proves to be much more than she bargained for. A bank robbery turned deadly leads to a chase to catch the culprits as the fugitives try to escape and hide out in Seattle. Twists in the intriguing story add to the suspense and tension. And the overarching plotline about her husband's murderer continues through the series. This compelling novel doesn't lack in excitement plus the main characters are growing personally and in their relationship as they work through their painful pasts. I look forward to the next book as their story continues. I received a copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

US Marshal Madison James has had it rough. As in, her husband was killed five years ago. A black rose was left at the scene and on his grave every year. Three months ago someone shot Madison in her own apartment and left a black rose behind. Pretty rough, wouldn't you say?

Now, she is back at work after recovering from the gunshot. She is working with her partner and friend, Jonas on a string of bank robberies and following up on leads. The perpetrators seem to be doing it for the rush and thrill of it, but then robberies begin to go bad and a bank guard is killed. They had never injured anyone prior to this. Then, another death. These criminals must be stopped and soon.

Jonas has feelings for Madison, but he struggles with feelings from a previous relationship with a co-worker who got badly injured on a case they were working. He feels a lot of guilt and isn't sure getting romantically involved with another coworker is a good idea. He also doesn't want to ruin a great friendship by confessing his feelings. Madison is not ready to take another chance on love and desperately wants to put the person behind bars who is responsible for her husband's death and her own shooting.

This is a great story that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Spoiler alert: the end leaves you hanging and wishing the next book in this series is out soon.

I was given an advanced ecopy of this by the publisher, Revell and Netgalley. I was under no obligation to leave a positive review.
