Author/Artist Review

Author: Michael Dante Aprile
Submitted: January 25, 2002

Tell us a little about yourself.  A graduate of the University of Louisville, in Kentucky, it was not long before I decided to use my degree in English to write for a living. I did that, in four different industries, for more than 23 years, to raise my family of a wife and six children. Soon it struct me that I would rather write about what was important to me. It was not long before a publisher picked up one of my books and started me in the fresh direction of writing about the true, lesser seen, aspects of this life.

What was your motivation behind this project?  When I became a Christian, it took me some great amount of years to take seriously the grace that God had afforded me through Christ. My love for study of the Word lead to the promised blessings. My love for Christ soon developed into a love for truth and the abundant life. When my daughters came across the classic Elsie Dinsmore series books, we shared them as a family. I was discussing the character traits that Elsie reveals of Christ with "Little Bear" Wheeler, one morning in our living room. That was where the inspiration to write this book was born.

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  You could say that researching and writing The Character of Elsie Dinsmore was an act of love for young people who need to know the character of Christ is possible to own, no matter what odds they are up against in this life.

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  I have not thought much about this point of influences, however, it could be well have been Oswald Chambers, and the inspired writers of the Bible. I believe it is important to guard the windows to your soul, as a Christian. Even still the Bible must be the primary source of all truth and study. We teach school from it.

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  I have some other books and booklets that can be discovered at online.
