Inviting young people into deeper forms of holiness, The CEB (Common English Bible) Student Bible helps you make connections between the world of the Bible and their own.
The CEB Student Bible is a Bible by and for young people that invites you into deeper forms of both personal holiness and social holiness. It helps you make connections between the world of the Bible and your own world, offering resources for engaging the text in personal and group study, and embodying a commitment to taking you seriously as Christian leaders now, not just in the future. It's a resource that helps young disciples of Jesus Christ as they transform the world.
The CEB Student Bible has the full text of the Bible in the Common English Bible translation, the most contemporary, readable, and reliable English translation of the Bible. It also includes the following features to help you engage the Bible:
- Introductions to each book of the Bible by leading biblical scholars. Each introduction gives an overview of the book, key themes, tips for reading, and quick facts.
- More than 400 articles by biblical scholars and a diverse group of youth ministers from traditions including United Methodist, PC (USA), Episcopal, Disciples of Christ, and ELCA churches. These articles model what it's like to really engage the Bible. They explore difficult topics and the things that are important in your world today.
- Discussions for each book of the Bible by youth ministers. These are group and small group discussion questions, activities, and Reading Differently exercises
- Prayers and reflections by students who have participated in Emory University’s award-winning Youth Theological Initiative
- Guide to the stories of the Bible.

Youth Worker Review
“If you're searching for a Bible that will draw youth not only to read God's Word but also form a deeper spiritual connection, the CEB Student Bible is your answer as it ‘mirrors how young people talk, read, and write with their friends.’ Because youth are a part of its composition, the effectiveness and impact is enhanced.”
“When I look at the ‘teen’ Bible I read when I was an adolescent I’m disturbed that it taught me what to think, instead of how to query. That’s why I was so impressed with The CEB Student Bible. It’s not afraid to let teens think for themselves. It poses big questions, offers background information, and sets minds loose to pray and explore.”
“Being Christian homeschoolers, I ensure my teens study the Bible as part of their daily curriculum. It was easy to use the CEB Student Bible in this way because it not only provided insights and information but also had questions which my teens could incorporate into their daily study. … Of course you don’t need to be a homeschooler to take advantage of all this Bible has to offer.”
“The contemporary and ecumenically-minded CEB translation makes a good choice for children, teens, young adults, and virtually any-aged Bible student who wants to grasp the complexities and paradoxes of God’s Word.”
“This new Bible version flows really well and is great for reading out loud. The added reflections included in the Student Bible are well written and can help the teens relate to the topics. … We already own the Deep Blue Kids Bible that is written in the CEB version, and my older kids are enjoying this Student Bible as much as we do the Kids Bible.”
“The CEB Student Bible is targeted to young people. Most likely for people between the ages of twelve and twenty-five or so. However, I think this Bible would be useful in the hands of any youth leader and I enjoyed it as well. ... Overall I enjoyed reading and using The CEB Student Bible (even though I am forty-two and not in a youth group!). My twelve-year-old son also gives his ‘thumbs up’ for this translation. He has already asked me to give the student Bible to him once I finish up this post.”
“My son was excited to receive a new Bible. He has been using it daily to help with his AWANA sections and takes it to church on Sunday. So when he says those simple words, ‘I like this Bible, Mom,’ it really means that he does like it a lot.”

My 12 yr. old son has been using this Bible to complete his AWANA sections and likes it (his words, "I like this Bible mom")
The Bible has 16 maps!!! I love maps. Each book starts with introduction and gives the child the key themes which I find very helpful. Throughout the books are textboxes, prayers, and questions that really have my son think. For instance some of the questions in the book of Joshua ask about the importance of the land and should it be of any importance to us now.
What is unique about The CEB Student Bible is some of the prayers and textboxes are written by students, young people like Ethan.
When my son says he likes something that means he really does :) This would be a great Bible for me to give as gifts to my nephews & nieces.
