Lauries first published work was a note passed to a boy in elementary school. You would have thought that this most embarrassing moment would have stopped her writing career. But instead, Laurie is the author of thirty five books and author/illustrator of two more. Laurie lives in rural Ohio with her husband and two daughters and loves writing surrounded by horses, cattle, dogs, cats, and five turkeys.
Doris Ettlinger uses a traditional, realistic art style with a warm color palette. She has illustrated some of the Little House on the Prairie books for HarperCollins Publishers.
Christine5 Stars Out Of 5March 19, 2010ChristineThe illustrations especially appeal to me. Several are drawn from an "overhead" perspective, which is unusual and draws attention to the story in a new way. The book is just big enough, but not too big for small hands. This is a treasure!
Wendy5 Stars Out Of 5July 6, 2008WendyThis is an outstanding book for Christian parents of any denomination to read to their children. There are stories common to Bible storybooks, like Creation, Adam and Eve, David and Goliah, but there are also stories that are less common, like Samson and Delilah, parts of Psalms, and the message of Isaiah. The "God's Blessing" and "Faith to Grow" sections make the message of the story very clear to little children.
