Brokenness doesn't only find us in the big things--things like illness, hardship, or grief. It also finds us in the everyday stinging moments when we feel forgotten, or under-appreciated by our loved ones, or sense the inevitable change years of living has marked on our hearts. We are fragile and we know it. Sometimes, living with Christ in a messed-up world feels less like victory and more like walking uphill. How do we walk in a way that both glorifies Jesus and bears witness to our weakness?
From the best-selling author of One Thousand Gifts comes an impassioned message: We are desperately loved by Jesus just as we are, and his love compels us to be broken open for others! You'll be deeply encouraged by Voskamp's thoughts on how God takes flawed and imperfect sinners, redeems us, and makes us useful in his kingdom.
Noteworthy: This author is one of a special group of women who writes for (in)courage, the popular online friendship community. Every day they take turns pulling up a chair to share their stories of what Jesus looks like in their every day, gloriously ordinary, and often messy lives.
If you read the (in)courage blog online, then you'll be sure to enjoy this title.

New York Times best-selling author of One Thousand Gifts Ann Voskamp sits at the edge of her life and all of her own unspoken brokenness and asks: What if you really want to live abundantly before it's too late? What do you do if you really want to know abundant wholeness? This is the one begging question thats behind every single aspect of our lives --- and one that The Broken Way - also a New York Times bestseller - rises up to explore in the most unexpected ways.
This one's for the lovers and the sufferers. For those whose hopes and dreams and love grew so large it broke their willing hearts. This one's for the busted ones who are ready to bust free, the ones ready to break molds, break chains, break measuring sticks, and break all this bad brokenness with an unlikely good brokenness. You could be one of the Beloved who is broken --- and still lets yourself be loved.
You could be one of them, one who believes freedom can be found not only beyond the fear and pain, but actually within it.
You could discover and trust this broken way --- the way to not be afraid of broken things.
Ann Voskamp is the wife of one fine, down-to-earth farmer; a book-reading mama to a posse of seven; and the author of the New York Times bestsellers One Thousand Gifts, which has sold more than one million copies and has been translated into more than twenty-one languages, and The Broken Way.
Named by Christianity Today as one of fifty women most shaping culture and the church today, Ann knows unspoken brokenness and big country skies and an intimacy with God that touches wounded places. Millions do life with her at her daily photographic online journal, one of the top 10 most widely read Christian sites: www.annvoskamp.com

"Rich. Gritty. Intimately vulnerable. A wise way forward to help navigate our broken world. This book is worth the wait. So many writers of faith do not do the hard work of literary incarnation: expressing spiritual truth in the material world of daily life. Ann Voskamp does this brilliantly." -Philip Yancey
"I read The Broken Way with tears streaming down my face, my Spirit crying out YES, YES, YES, YES! Few authors have impacted my own life like Ann Voskamp. If we can live out the truth contained within The Broken Way, I believe we will reach & impact our generation like never before. So powerful. So prophetic. So profound. Please read this book."
“Just had a marvelous, rich phone conversation with Ann. Wow; just wow. Sometimes in my professional life I am fortunate enough to cross paths with someone who has a good word not just for some vague "audience" out there, but also for me personally. This was one of those moments. What a gift to be able to visit with Ann by phone, and how generous of her to give me a little extra time to cover each question thoroughly.
“The interview was rich and profound, and I can't wait to write an article that highlights this book.”
“Ann and I had a rich time together this morning. The interview was a blessing! Blessings on you and your team as you prepare for the launch of The Broken Way this fall!”

Karen5 Stars Out Of 5The Broken WayJune 19, 2017KarenQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0I watched the video of the first session twice, and cried both times. Watched it for the third time, in anticipation of showing it at our Women's Bible study tonight, and was even more fully impacted. The theme of "The Broken Way" has struck a chord with our women, and we have the highest registration EVER in the nine years of facilitating this group! 61 women! So, that says to me there is a lot of brokenness in our world, and people are looking for ways to deal with it! The videos are beautiful, reflective and thoughtful. VERY well done. The book is a bit of a struggle to adapt to Ann's writing style, but the content is rich, reflective and much depth! Rereading the first three chapters impacted me significantly, while the initial reading was a little harder to connect with. So, my experience is that the more one reflects on Ann's words and ideas, the richer they become! I am now thoroughly enthused by the entire book, as have read all but the last chapter so far, and as I told my group, 3 of the chapters alone are worth the price of the book! If one is willing to not just breeze through the book for information, but is willing to ponder, reflect and consider the themes and ideas, this book offers so, so much more depth than the average "read" in the Christian genre!
Carol Carroll3 Stars Out Of 5DifficultMay 25, 2017Carol CarrollQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0My group watched the first video and did not want to do the study. Comments included: "there's that beautiful young woman with the beautiful family and what she says is so depressing." So we opted not to continue with this. I'm really sorry that we didn't like it - if you've done 1,000 Gifts, this one is darker. I'm sure it will speak to some people, just not my ladies.

As Ann unpacks what she has learned, we see a fresh look at Jesus being broken and given for us. We learn not only to thank God, but also to live in the fullness of Jesus being enough. Enough for all our brokenness, enough so that we enter into the wholeness of koinonia, community. Communion with each other that happens not only when we are broken, for we all are in some way, but also when we trust each other with our brokenness.
I could have underlined this entire book. If you enjoyed Anns style of writing in One Thousand Gifts, you will appreciate the continuation of that theme in her latest book.
Don Youts3 Stars Out Of 5Too Self-indulgentJanuary 17, 2017Don YoutsQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0I absolutely delighted in her first book. Her ability with wordsmithing is incredible. I struggled with this one because the focus seemed painfully self-focused. I know we all have pain in our lives but this seemed so obsessive.
Sarah5 Stars Out Of 5Life Changing - Life GivingDecember 9, 2016SarahQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5In recent years the churchs cry from pulpit and page has been authenticity. Share your burdens, be real, don't act like you have it all together...after all, no one has it all together. And so we share. We tell our friends and small groups. Our Bible studies. We listen to the heartbreaking stories. We go into all the world and witness gut-wrenching realities. And now we cant look away; we cant unknow. Dropping the facade has revealed the brokenness. We now know about the silent suffering of our neighbor. We see hunger and homelessness; anger and addiction. Heaps and heaps of suffering and brokenness permeate our communities, our world. And we ask, Lord, how do we shoulder the shattered? Now that we know, what do we do? How can we live? If youve ever asked yourself, what do I do with this broken life? This broken world? Where is God? This book is for you. Ann beautifully and practically walks alongside you as you discover a new way to live: The Broken Way. Its not easy or fluffy. Its not a quick fix or self help. Its taking a counter cultural dare to live a more abundant life. I cant adequately convey how this book has changed my life and walk with Jesus. Every word will lead you closer to Him. In fact, my ministry team purchased 144 copies and gave them to missionaries serving in Honduras, and we are reading it with them. I hope youll take the dare to live the broken way.
