An excellent mystery that was exciting to read!

A school teacher who lost all her family, Abby had to travel far away to Nebraska, not only to teach young children, but to help spy and capture a notorious killer (who killed her own father). To top off matters, she was an assistant to her former beau, Dash who had deserted her without an explanation six years earlier. With all these clues plus more, it made for a very good read! The Blizzard Bride had a well written section that described how horrible it was to be caught in a sudden storm on a nice day catching everyone off guard. Her little school house had children trapped with her and she had to protect them at all costs, even to her own danger. The sub plots are good too, how Abby lived with the embarrassment of her father's criminal acts years ago and how she had been shunned. The postmaster, the rejected man in town, a baby being born soon, a mysterious little boy are all full of adventure!I thoroughly enjoyed this book!I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.

A very intriguing tale of a one room schoolhouse teacher in Nebraska! Abby Bracey is an excellent protagonist as she gets a job as a teacher but is really on the lookout for a counterfeiter who killed her father! She is working for the Secret Service as is her former suitor, Agent Dash Lassiter. It was suspenseful when the Blizzard of 1888 hit while Abby and her students are at the schoolhouse except for two students who were sent home early because the brother brought a skunk to school--for the second time I recommend The Blizzard Bride to others who enjoy historical fiction. I have read all of the books in the Daughters of the Mayflower series. The Blizzard Bride was one of my favorites. I loved the chemistry of the main characters. The blizzard provided for an interesting storyline. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.

The eleventh novel in "The Mayflower Bride" series has the well developed plot and historical detail we've come to expect from the series. Main character Abby Bracey is recruited by the U.S. Secret Service to help discover the whereabouts of a dangerous counterfeiter who is also responsible for the murder of her father. The assignment involves a move from Chicago to a small town in the plains of Nebraska as well as working with a man she hasn't seen in six years and wants nothing to do with. I found the book kept my interest throughout because of both the mystery and history. Although the novel also includes elements of romance, it is much more layered than some of the romances I've read. I recommend this book for both teens and adults.

"Say your prayers, men, and keep your wits about you."

This book perfectly blended the ups and downs of a tender romance, and the terrifying deeds of a bloodthirsty criminal. My emotions were all over the map! In fact, at one point, I had to close this book and distract myself to have ANY chance at getting a decent night's sleep later. But to be fair, there was a third component that tied these very different facets together, and that was faith. Abby and Dash faced some awful situations, both emotionally and physically, but what untangled their knots and gave them the courage to move forward was faith in the God who knows and forgives. I liked that their estrangement wasn't over something shallow - that it took GRACE for each of them to see themselves and their actions from God's perspective. And having been forgiven, the door was open to forgive others. Who knew what changes that could bring?!

This is a great book in a wonderful series. I have learned so much about our country's history, and in such an enthralling way. I can't recommend Daughters of the Mayflower series enough, and this installment by Dietze is a keeper.
