This is such an important lesson to teach our children. This fun little story gives them a tangible way to see God's blessings in their lives every day. I think having a Blessing Jar is a great idea for us adults too! I think everyone needs to be reminded of God's blessings in their lives, especially through those hard and tough days!
Tara CAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Must read for families with little ones.July 23, 2013Tara CAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This book was the perfect addition to our family library. We had such a great time going through the adventure with little Punky Grace and found ourselves getting over our own grumpies by the end. My favorite part was being inspired to make our own blessings jars. It ministered to my heart just as much as I think it did my children, if not more!
I totally recommend this book to any and all families. It is a must read!

It's nice to have a book to help explain the different blessings we have from God around us. The whole concept of having a blessings jar is a really neat idea, to help us and our children remember the blessings God has given us.
The illustrations are very fun and colorful in this book. I also like that the pages are hard, so that there's no paper tearing while turning pages. I would say this book is great for kids aged 2-5.
I appreciate this book and know that you will too! It's a great read and teaches our children about God's blessings, how to spot them. Taking those blessings or a part of those blessings and putting them in a jar to remind us of those blessings is clever and fun. While is a great read, it's also a great idea to put into action with your kids!
Rebecca IAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Sweet and SpunkyJuly 22, 2013Rebecca IAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5The Blessings Jar: A Story About Being Thankful is about a sweet and spunky little girl named, Punky, who is having an icky awful day. She wakes up in the morning with a case of the grumpies that threaten to make her entire day miserable. Her Grammy suggests that she take a jar and fill it with things that remind her of God's blessings during the day. The rest of the book is the story of her adventures that day and the items she collects as she goes. At the end of the book, she realizes that her grumpies disappeared as she refocused on all of the good things that God has given her.
My kids and I really enjoyed this book! The pages are filled with sweet pictures to compliment the sweet story. I really enjoyed how the story focused on the wonderful things God gives us in spite of how we are feeling in the moment. Although the book is written for children, it has timeless truths that are excellent reminders for adults as well.
As a plus, my kids loved point out Punky's dog, Jake, on each page. It engaged my 2-year-olds from start to end.
(I did receive a copy of this book for review purposes from Tommy Nelson. No other compensation was given other than the book itself. All opinions are 100% mine and based on how my family interacted with the book in our home. They vote that this is a keeper!)
CallieAge: 18-24Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Cute BookJuly 22, 2013CallieAge: 18-24Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4This book was written by an author I've read before, Colleen Coble. The book is a story of "Punky Grace" learning to see the blessings around her and getting rid of her "grumpies" by filling up a blessing jar her grandma gave her. I read the back and realized that Coble based the characters on her granddaughter and herself, which I liked! It added a personal touch to a sweet story.
I loved that the book is a board book, but it's a full-size book too - it seems like a lot of board books are mini-books, and I liked that this was a nice big book with beautiful pictures, and pages that my son can't tear.
This is really a cute book, with a great story, and the illustrations were interesting and included lots of things to hold little ones' attentions. I loved that it encouraged kids to look for the different blessings that God gives us in our everyday life. I would definitely recommend this book!
Note: I received this book from the publisher in exchange for this review. This is my honest opinion.
