Publisher's Description

Are you a BEE or a FLEA?

What is a Biblical Entrepreneur's Experience (BEE)? It is a business model addressing entrepreneurial challenges through the personal application of biblical principles. In short, the Bible can, and should, be our foundational guide when building a business. The goal of the BEE model is to challenge modern, worldly, entrepreneurial concepts and practices by providing a framework for personal success in the human experience.

In the BEE model, there is a responsibility to respectfully challenge worldly behavior. As BEEs we are trying to pollinate thus creating new life wherever possible. However, we must prepare ourselves for consequences as some worldly people may go to extreme measures in their personal interest of keeping a job, getting the next promotion, making money or simply to "feel better" about themselves.

"The best witness for Christ is allowing our craftsmanship, service, and generosity persist in such contrast to FLEA-managed products that the world is forced to ask what makes us different." -M. S., Pennsylvania

"A prejudice is that a BEE project won't and should not make profits, because it's out of kindness so customers should not be charged. But this is so wrong." -L. W., China

Tell us a little about yourself.  S. Leigh Davis grew up in a culture of great American entrepreneurs and philanthropists. He developed his own entrepreneurial ventures including distribution, executive management, global business expansion, and consulting.

Currently Davis serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for the entrepreneurial venture The Biblical Entrepreneur, Inc. Additionally, Davis serves as Chairman and Chief Strategy Officer for MelBEE's, a startup venture developed in the BEEhive incubator program.

Davis also served as Chief Operating Officer for a Manhattan based Venture Capital/Private Equity and Consultancy firm. He was charged with developing and operationally leading stage one and stage two ventures toward profit and sustainability. Some of Davis' projects are currently in the I.P.O. process.

Davis holds a B.A in both History and Business Administration, and an M.A, in Professional Development, with specialization in Business and Religion.

Additionally, Davis served as Professor and Entrepreneurial Lead at Cairn University asking students to "walk a different path" by creating and implementing biblically based businesses. This was done through his BEEhive MBA level business incubator program. Davis taught graduate classes in Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Market Discovery and Analysis, Business Operations and New Product Strategy.

Davis has also been active in working with currently incarcerated persons through Defy Ventures, helping to create lasting businesses through entrepreneurship and innovation.

Also at New Hope Community Church, Davis leads both the Prayer Ministry and Recovery Mission while occasionally providing the Sunday sermon.

What was your motivation behind this project?  The motivation behind the book was to help guide people worldwide toward a different model of entrepreneurship. The BEE model develops businesses using the Bible as a the foundation for best practices and behavior. This is opposed to the worldly concept of success being defined by personal ego or money beyond simply filling a need. This new BEE model is underlined throughout history with like biblical entrepreneurs. The reader is introduced to concepts previously overlooked including a broad comparison of BEE-like to the all to common FLEA-like behavior of persons who build and manage a business.

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  We are looking for the reader to put into practice the "original" and "groundbreaking" concepts built out in the book. These concepts are broken down and simplified into understandable, actionable, concepts. One concept that is key for a BEE is to implement the simple ingredients of Royal Jelly These ingredients include daily: Bible Study, Prayer, Meditation on the Word, and Fasting. When ingesting and metabolizing Royal Jelly, the future entrepreneur draws themselves - and by extension their project - closer to Him. Within the pages of The Biblical Entrepreneur's Experience examples of historic and current figures are modeled. These are average people who counted on the Lord for guidance in their business project who then became extraordinary with lasting business' that matter. The foundation of this success is then analyzed and dissected to find the Source of great inspiration and behavior.

How were you personally impacted by working on this project?  The impact of spending years in the Word while allowing the Lord and Holy Spirit to shape both thought and analysis cannot be overstated. There is now a very real sense, underlined by colleague statements, that new entrepreneurial ventures following the BEE business model have the very real opportunity to, with His guidance, "change the business world".

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  Humbly: Christ, John, Paul, Nehemiah then Madam C.J. Walker, Strive and Tsitsi Masiyiwa, the Walker Brothers of Walker Mowers, and Scott Harrison and his book "Thirst".

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  What is a Biblical Experiential Entrepreneur? The answer is quite simple: Biblical Experiential Entrepreneurship (BEE) is a business model addressing entrepreneurial challenges through the personal application of biblical principles. In short, the Bible can, and should, be our foundational guide when building a business. The goal of the BEE model is to challenge modern, worldly, entrepreneurial concepts and practices by providing a framework for personal success in the human experience. Entrepreneurship is the execution of new and innovative solutions.
