At first glance it might not come off as appealing right away, but I gave it a chance and I found this book is good enough. Simple words and simple tellings, well said compared to the other "toddler" bibles. I agree with the recommended age that even a year-old child would pay attention. I love the feel of cover in my hands, the smooth and glossy pages and the simplicity of illustrations, and if you hate the cartoonish whimsical drawings then this could satisfy you. The size is just perfect for the palm esp. when reading for a squirmy toddler, and I like that it's a little padded.
My only problem is that it's much too expensive for the overall book. The illustrations and colors are much too simple for the price.
We use this sweet little Bible as a baby gift to new babies at church. The families love them and they are ones that the children can use for years to come...until they get their full Bible in the first grade.
I think this book is excellent. It is beautifully illustrated. My daughter has had this since she was 3. I love how this author presents the text. She gives just enough thought to make the text meaningful, but not so much that a 3-year old would be confused. As a parent I really like the handling of the tougher topics, such as the crucufixion. She approaches it with real tenderness. I feel that the author does not make the text too petty, rather bringing out the love and sacrifice in the story while keeping the actual text simple. Very gifted author and illustrator!
