Its back-to-school time in Bear Country!
After the long and lazy summer, its time for school. Brother and Sister are ready to see their friends and get busy with all of the things they enjoy about schoolbut are nervous about the more challenging subjects like math and history. And Honey Bear will be going to nursery school for the first timebut how will she handle not being home with Mama and Papa all day?
In this new Berenstain Bear Living Lights book, Mama and Papa Bear remind their cubs that prayer and Gods love are always there to guide them and that they will support them no matter what the challenge.
Stan and Jan Berenstain introduced the first Berenstain Bears books in 1962. Mike Berenstain grew up watching his parents work together to write about and draw these lovable bears. Eventually he started drawing and writing about them too. Though Stan died in 2005 and Jan in 2012, Mike continues to create the delightful Bear adventures from his studio in Pennsylvania, in an area that looks much like the sunny dirt road deep in Bear Country.
Fitzysmom5 Stars Out Of 5Review from Rambles of a SAHMAugust 10, 2016FitzysmomQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5The lazy days of summer are coming to an end and for the Bear family that means a new school year is about to begin. And with this new academic term comes changes. Honey Bear is old enough to start nursery school. She's excited but a bit nervous as well.
The anxiety isn't limited to Honey Bear. Brother and Sister Bear have their own set of worries. Will the classes be too hard? Will Honey be able to be away from her parents all day? Mama and Papa Bear assure them that all will be well by pointing them to Scripture.
"As it says in the Bible," said Mama, "I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.'"
"That's Psalm 34:4," said Papa.
The next day was the first day of school which brought about a lot of initial excitement. Eventually worry and anxiety began to creep in. After school the kids settled down to do their homework. The unease from earlier returned and Papa Bear noticed.
"I know schoolwork can be tough," he said. "But remember, you can turn to God for strength and guidance. Let's pray together."
I don't think there is a Berenstain Bears book that I don't like. But this book, School Time Blessings, has to be one of my new favorites. Common fears that are contained in a new school year are addressed and Scripture is used to calm those fears! What better way can we arm our children to face what lies ahead of them?
If you've got a kiddo that's about to embark on a new school year this would be a great story to read to them. You can then discuss with them what some of their concerns for the new year may be. I look forward to reading it with my grands that are about to start a new year of learning!
I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review.

And the Berenstain Bears are ready to help make the transition a little easier. Mike Berenstain has continued his family legacy with this delightful new book, School Time Blessings. This is a perfect book to read with your children before school starts, especially if they go to a public school or preschool. I like the way he incorporates prayer and scripture for reassurance in the story. Kids will love the latest Berenstain tale and will learn from the family's solution of how to calm the fears of a new school year. I received this book in exchange for a fair review.

School Time Blessings is another childrens picture book, in the Berenstain Bears collection. Mike Berenstain took over for his mom and dad in writing and illustrating this series. I love the Berenstains, and have been reading them since I was a little girl. I read them to my boys when they were little. And, now I read them to my grandchildren. I look forward to the day when my grandbabies read them to their own children. They have always taught good manners and morals, and now they include Gods Word in them. They also include questions to talk about and ways to put what theyve taught into action.
In School Time Blessings the cubs are a little nervous about starting back to school. Mama and Papa teach them that they can ask God for help and guidance. They also learn to help each other.
I really like this book and would recommend it to young readers and those who read to and teach them.

School Time Blessings is a childrens book for suggested ages 4-8. The Berenstain Bears are the characters in this wonderful book that teaches children about relying on God when worries and troubles arise. It uses examples of praying to God for strength and direction, as well as Scripture verses to support their messages. The story which unfolds in the Bear Country community helps children to see they always have someone to go to who will give them direction and strength in all areas of their lives.
As soon as I sat down to read School Time Blessings to my 2-year old he was immediately drawn in by the colorful and active illustrations on the cover. Instead of me reading the story to him first, he took over by reviewing all of the pages and studying the pictures. Then he proceeded to sit attentively while I read the story to him. Even though he may not catch the meanings yet, School Time Blessings has definitely caught his attention. I really liked how Scripture verses and lessons from Gods word was included in a story which can relate to all children and going back to school. I recommend School Time Blessings.

School Time Blessings is a nice addition to Back-to-School books in the library. Brother, Sister, and Honey share with readers their worries and they beginning a new school year. Mama and Papa Bear try to help them seek God and trust on Him. They direct them to read the Bible and Psalm 34:4. Papa instructions them then to seek God for their strength and help with their homework. As well as sharing with the cubs that Phil. 4:13 tells us we can do all things through Christ. What better way to help kids learn then sharing your faith with them. There are also activities and questions at the back of the book to talk about and do. Beautiful Book. It is going in my classroom library for sure.
