Series: Berenstain Bears
Stan and Jan Berenstain introduced the first Berenstain Bears books in 1962. Mike Berenstain grew up watching his parents work together to write about and draw these lovable bears. Eventually he started drawing and writing about them too. Though Stan died in 2005 and Jan in 2012, Mike continues to create the delightful Bear adventures from his studio in Pennsylvania, in an area that looks much like the sunny dirt road deep in Bear Country.
Mia B.5 Stars Out Of 5Just the 'bear' facts. . .February 23, 2016Mia B.Quality: 4Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I have always loved the Berenstain Bear family stories. They teach good character, morals, and habits in a colorful, engaging, entertaining way... causing children to feel they are 'normal' in their feelings and actions. I like that this one (& two others I purchased) intentionally include God & faith!!! (My own children enjoyed these, & now my grandchildren can enjoy the new titles, too!) Very nostalgic. . .
Fitzysmom5 Stars Out Of 5April 16, 2014FitzysmomThe adorable Berenstain Bear family is back and they are talking about faith. Brother and Sister Bear have a friend named Ferdy Factual. Ferdy loves everything about science. In fact he puts his faith in science rather than God, who he doesn't believe in. This is very perplexing to the young cubs and causes them to wonder what faith is.
Through some conversations with their parents and their pastor the cubs begin to explore what exactly faith is. The story uses Daniel and the Lions Den as an example of having faith in a God you cannot see.
I think you will enjoy reading this with your kiddos and discussing what having faith in God means. It is a great tool to begin a conversation that will lead to a deeper understanding of faith for your children. In the back of the book is a list of resource to use for discussion questions and suggested activities to help instill the truths that were presented.

When Brother and Sister Bear's friend Ferdy Factual tells them he doesn't believe God created the world, the Bear cubs don't know what to think. What does it mean to have faith? Can Preacher Brown help?
About the Author:
Mike Berenstain grew up watching his parents, Stan and Jan, working together to write and draw these lovable bears. Eventually he started drawing and writing about them too.
The beloved work of Stan&Jan Berenstain live on in the artistic hands of their son, Mike. Nike Berenstain has continued the tradition that his parents started all those years ago. My family love the Berenstain Bears just as my husband & I did as children. The character lessons that this series provides is something I love sharing with my children and will continue on to our grands some day.
The latest book in the series is, The Berenstain Bears Keep The Faith, which centers around the fact that Brother and Sister Bear have a friend, Ferdy Factual that doesn't believe in God. After some quiet thought, they finally speak to their parents about this and they in turn take the pair to Preacher Brown so that he can explain "faith" in a way that they can understand in a way to calm their fears and doubts about the subject.
After a discussion&quick reference to the story of Daniel and the lions den, Brother and Sister soon realize that faith in God is very important. And that Daniel teaches them to have an even deeper commitment to our creator.
**Disclosure** This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from my participation on the Z Blog Squad.
NanceeGrand Rapids, MichiganAge: Over 65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Well done!March 21, 2014NanceeGrand Rapids, MichiganAge: Over 65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5"The Berenstain Bears Keep The Faith" is from the Living Lights Berenstain Bear books published by Zonderkidz. These books help children learn how God wants them to live every day. "Keep The Faith" is a high quality paperback book, colorful and much the same as the original Berenstain Bears collections. This particular book is intended for children ages 4-8, and is appropriate for that age group. The illustrations are very well done, giving children a wonderful visualization of the story.
The story describes how Brother and Sister Bear enjoy playing with their friends, and the activities that they enjoy. One of their friends, Ferdy Factual was like his Uncle Factual, a scientist bear. Ferdy offered to bring his telescope to their house so that Brother and Sister could observe the moon, which they enjoyed very much. When Sister exclaimed that "God certainly did a good job" Ferdy asked "Why mention God?" Sister explained that God created everything, but Ferdy disagreed stating that he doesn't believe in God. Brother and Sister were confused and asked Mama and Papa about believing in God. Mama and Papa explained that their beliefs were based on faith in God, but Brother and Sister didn't understand Faith. Mama and Papa suggested talking to Preacher Brown about faith. Preacher Brown told the bears the story of Daniel and the lion's den. He then explained that it was Daniel's trust in God that saved him from the lions. Trusting in God's love is what faith in God is all about.
"The Berenstain Bears Keep The Faith" book is well written and well illustrated, and an excellent tool for teaching early elementary school aged children about God. The lesson is directly from the bible, and is easy for children of that age to understand.

Faith and Family ReviewsChicago, ILAge: 35-44Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5March 17, 2014Faith and Family ReviewsChicago, ILAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4If you spend any amount of time on my site you know we love books! I stopped getting children's books to review just because we have so many books already but I couldn't resist The Berenstain Bears Keep the Faith book.
Our younger children all love this book and have asked to read it over and over again. The message is simple. Brother and Sister Bear come across a friend, Ferdy Factual, who does not believe in God and they are not quite sure what to do or say for that matter. They were kind to their friend, though they asked him questions. I thought Mama and Papa handled the issue quite well, though they could have done a better job of explaining what faith is themselves rather than going to Preacher Brown. However, I understand that may have just been there to help children know when mom and dad do not know the answer a member of the clergy is there to consult with on the tougher questions.
This book was a good reminder to me to help our children understand that not everyone believes the same way or the same things as we do.
I give it two thumbs up for Keep the Faith for any family of faith with young kiddos in the home.
