I think I have read every Baxter book written about the Baxters and their friends, some parts of the story were already familiar. If you have not read any of the other books, start with this one. One of the Baxter daughters is getting married. Two of the daughters have former boyfriends, their first loves, waiting and hoping for an opportunity to get back in the good graces of the young ladies they still love. The story includes lots of tension, drama, romance, and faith. I enjoyed reading of them struggling with the faith they were raised on and waiting to see how, or if, they would work things out. Not only were they struggling with faith, but the relationships presented more than a few challenges. If you enjoy inspirational stories about family relationships, struggles, and challenges, you will enjoy this one.

This is a great beginning to The Baxter series as it lets you get to know the backstory of this family better. I read the series as it came out but find I have forgotten a lot of it so I now want to go back and reread it. Kari frustrates me as it is a good lesson on why we need to discuss things with someone who has hurt us as it could be a misunderstanding that changes the course of our lives for no reason. I love that the characters are real with problems like we encounter. I enjoy the Faith journey and how we each find our own way as the Holy Spirit woos us. If you have not read this series it is time to get started and this is the perfect starting point.

I won an advanced readers copy from Goodreads. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.

Karen Kingsbury brings us the prequel to her beloved Baxter series of books.

This introduces us to the wedding day of daughter, Kari, to Tim Jacobs. Stormy winds are blowing on this day, not only weatherwise, but also on the feelings and emotions of not only Kari, but all the family members.

I found this prequel repetitive within the book. Also, I had a hard time enjoying the book since I have already read all the books in the Baxter series and already know what happens in the future. I just could not really rationalize the need for a prequel. I would recommend it to someone who has not already read all the books.

I received a copy of the book from the author. The opinions expressed are my own.
