I fell in love with Christiana and Jeff's story and characters! I was rooting for them from the moment the bumped into each other! Coffee and donuts brought them together, you could say, but will they stay together? They have some obstacles to overcome. Will their family prove to be one of their biggest supporters or biggest obstacles?

I am now ready for book two in the series!!! I hope the author has her writing fingers working fast cause I know I can hardly wait and I'll bet other readers will feel the same.

I received an ARC of this book from netgalley and Zondervan in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review and all opinions expressed are my own.

As this book unfolds we are treated to unkindness in the form of two demanding, irritated and rude customers. Not only that, they demand attention before others there before them. An accident occurs and the two women become even more demanding and angry, having no patience or compassion for the owner of the bake goods booth.

That evening while the family is eating another customer comes to the door wanting to purchase two pies for dessert tomorrow evening. The booth is closed, the sign indicating so and the hours of operation. Why is it that we show no consideration for others demanding attention now and not a second later? These were not innocent, in the moment thoughtless actions, they were deliberate.

Thankfully the pie lady's appearance was the spur to allow the young bakers father to agree for her to rent a booth at the town's marketplace where she will work 3 days a week not 6 and where the family will no longer deal with someone seeking baked goods after hours.

Allowing his daughter to have a booth goes against her father's strict beliefs. Hidden in the past is a secret that is to impact the father's actions with a young man his daughter knows. This young man wants to date his daughter but because he uses electric in his booth to operate a burnisher, her father will not allow his daughter to eve speak with the young man.

So what is this secret? Why does her father have such strict beliefs when even local bishops allow their flock the use of electricity if they work for Englishers? The market is owned by an Englisher so it is legal for him to do so. However, the young man seeks counsel and uses an adapter that changes the current. This is also acceptable by the bishops.

How will the young couple manage to circumvent these obstacles? How will they convince her father that he is true to his faith and not going to pull the daughter into the world of an Englisher? Prayer and lots of it is the biggest factor in their defense, their love for one another is the second strongest factor.

In the meantime her bake shop is an immediate success. She is kept busy all while the market is open. Frustratingly her young man has his booth right next to hers, so they see each other on the days the market is open but are not allowed to speak to each other. How hard is that on this young couple?

I admit it seemed hopeless and I wondered how the author would bring everything to a loving conclusion. Her way was wonderful, but the closer the book got to its ending there appeared to be no solution in sight, it seemed hopeless. With Our Father nothing is ever hopeless but to find out why he gives in, you will have to read the book.

I thank the author for such a heart felt story of a young couple raised by strict but loving parents in a faith that is both strong, loving and even adaptable. A young couple who love their parents and have no intent of going against their rules of safety and conduct but who try mightily to find a workable solution. You had my interest almost from the first page.

I would like to thank the author, NetGalley and Zondervan for allowing me to read this book.

The Bake Shop ( An Amish Marketplace #1 )

    By: Amy Clipston

The Bake Shop is book one in An Amish Marketplace Series. Amy Clipston's friends and fans will love her latest, The Bake Shop. This is Christiana and Jeff's Story. I really enjoyed watches these two get to know each other. I felt so sorry for them at times. I was drawn in at the start and did not want to put it down. The story is well written and the characters are well developed. These two struggle with the rules of the Amish. Christiana loves to bake , but when things get overrun for her she is convinced to move to the local marketplace. Jeff runs a leather and woodcraft shop. Are the odds against these two from the start ? What will they do? Can they find a way to work together for their friendship and everyone be happy?

I was given a complimentary copy . All opinions are my own.

This is the first book in a new series, Amish Marketplace, by Amy Clipston. As is the norm for the author, she has given us another delightful Amish book that I couldn't put down until I had read the entire book.

Christiana moves her bake shop to the local Amish Marketplace, and there meets Jeff, who also has a booth there. They become friends, but misunderstandings and Christiana's very strict father make it difficult to even be able to maintain a friendship.

Living in an Amish area, I frequent the Amish Flea Markets and could easily visualize myself in the middle of this book! I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading Amish books. I look forward to the next books in the series to see how the other characters introduced in this book are developed.

I was given an ARC copy of this book by Zondervan on NetGalley and was not required to give a review. The opinions expressed are my own.

Fans of Amish romance will not be disappointed with Amy Clipston's new book.

I couldn't have asked for more. I enjoy reading Amy and other authors that write in this genre. I can count on them being clean, full of hope with life lessons throughout. Amy is an incredible storyteller. As an avid baker myself I was drawn into the story right away. Her descriptions of her location and characters are always carefully crafted. The two main characters in this novel, Christina Kurtz and Jeff Stoltzfus are two people you fall in love with and you can't help but want everything to turn out right for them. Their love story seems very real and genuine. I received a copy of this book from Zondervan through NetGalleys. The opinions expressed in this book are my own.
