This is the second book I have read by Margaret Daley, and it did not disappoint! While Lisette and Colton are truly what seem to be opposites, they have things in common that draw them together. One of those things is wanting Baby C to be rescued. The pair work together earnestly doing what they can to save this precious baby. The story takes the reader on a roller coaster ride--read it to see what happens!! Overall, it was a good read!
Thank you to the author for allowing me to preview this book--the opinions which I wrote are my own.
I was so excited about reviewing this book! The US Marshal's office has an assignment to crack a case in the baby smuggling ring and there's so much at stake in this one. All Marshal Colton Phillips has to do is bring their suspect safely to the airport which will take him to the safe house for the remainder of the case as they get the information they need from him. Unfortunately, trouble starts immediately.
FBI Agent Lisette Sutton is not comfortable working with Colton because he's known to break rules in order to get the job done and Lisette is by the book. However, she is also passionate about keeping children safe so she jumps at the chance to be on this case. Will Lisette and Colton be able to work well together in solving this case or will they bring too much conflict to one another?
Colton makes it clear to Lisette that he's in charge from the beginning, but they are both completely professional with one another and they're both determined to save Baby C. It's obvious that they both have a secretive past, but the biggest difference is that Colton relies on his faith to keep his sanity when his job requires him to work with criminals while Lisette is still harboring unforgiveness towards her mother. Even though Lisette has a wall of protection around her, the unforgiveness she holds onto weighs her down more than she realizes.
I truly admire stories like this one that take on a cause, rescuing innocent babies from bad guys, and passionately pursuing a case that will take every ounce of strength they have to overcome resourceful villains. The main bad guy in this one is much more clever than he seems, unfortunately, but that doesn't stop Colton and his team from taking countless risks to ensure the innocent are rescued and protected.
I want to thank the author for the review copy provided. All opinions expressed are my own.
I read The Baby Rescue by Margaret Daley and had a hard time putting it down. This book kept my interest all the way through it and kept me on the edge of my seat wondering how things would turn out in many parts of the story. A wonderful story, so glad I read it. I would highly recommend this to others to read, they will enjoy it to the fullest.
The Baby Rescue, Book 2 in the Witness Protection Series by Margaret Daley
US Marshal Colton Phillips is working a protection detail for low life Don Saunders when FBI agent Lisette Sutton joins his team. They are frantic to stop a baby smuggling operation. Don Saunders does not seem to be all he claims he is. This cause both the FBI and the Marshall's to wonder if they need to protect him or watch his every move. Things seem to go wrong at every turn. Having totally different work ethic, Colton is a the type to do whatever it takes to get the job done while, Lisette is strictly by the book, it came as quite a surprise when they found themselves drawn to each other. Having been hurt in the past Colton seems stand offish, can Lisette bring down his walls? Read this wonderful book to see if they put a stop to the operation before Baby C and Lisette are hurt.
This is a great book with intense suspense, a little romance and a compelling story line.
The Baby Rescue is a must read with twist and turns sure to keep you at the edge of your seat. But be warned you may not be able to put it down. The author Margaret Daley did an outstanding job brining this book to life, with respectable, dependable, faith filled characters. This book is well written, seems well researched and believable. Although this book is part of a series it can be read alone. I have not had the opportunity to read others and had no problem following alone. Waiting for the next book in the series is going to be a challenge. I highly recommend this book to anyone that loves fast paced suspense with romance and faith. I give The Baby Rescue 5 stars.
I want to give a high-five to the author Margaret Daley and publisher Love Inspired Suspense for bringing compelling Christian books that are entertaining and give hope to the reader with stories of faith. I was provided with a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review and I am so grateful for their, the authors and publishers generosity.
I love a good suspense story and when it falls within a continuing series I love it all the more. The Baby Rescue, by Margaret Daley, is the second book in the Love Inspired Suspense Witness Protection series. This series is comprised of six books written by different authors. While it is a series each book can be read as a stand-alone novel.
The Baby Rescue is the story of U.S. Marshal Colton Phillips and FBI agent Lisette Sutton. Colton believes in doing whatever it takes to get the desired outcome, whereas Lisette is all for following the law by the book with no deviations. With characters so different they have one thing in common, to get the job done. In this case to rescue a baby that has been kidnapped and bring down the middleman in the child abduction ring.
I always know what I will find within the covers of any Margaret Daley novel. Strong believable characters, well thought out plot and a Christian thread pulling the main characters together. In The Baby Rescue, she created a plot that twisted and turned taking the reader on a nail-biting ride to the satisfying conclusion.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Baby Rescue and plan to read all the rest of the books in the series. Thankfully they come out monthly. If you love a good clean suspense novel, I would highly recommend picking up a copy of The Baby Rescue.
On a 5-Star scale = 5 HUGE Stars!!!!!
