enjoying my JOY
August 5, 2016
I love it, I love it, I love it! I enjoy how she talks about each piece of Armor and what it is for AND the importance of unity in the body of Christ. An example of how this has effected me on a personal level is that I memorized Ephesian 6: 10-18 and have used it out loud. Plus since taking an inventory of my life I realized where the enemy has a toe hold in my life. I got scripture for that and put it on my bathroom mirror, above my kitchen sink, on a door in the kitchen that I see multiply times a day AND on a paper that I put in my pocket to pull out at anytime. "The enemy doesn't shoot the fiery darts to kill you, he shoots them to distract you" ( Paraphrased from the study) he was doing a good job distracting me until I took this study. You are never too old or too seasoned in your walk with the Lord to take this study and apply it to your daily life. I've gotten freedom and where there is freedom there is joy. I'm enjoying my JOY!
My daughter-in-law first saw the videos and recommended them to me. I watched them and later bought the study guide. Recently a young mom at my church asked if I would lead a summer Bible Study and suggested we do this series. So I can say that it applies to young wives in their 20's, young mothers in their 30's, and empty nesters in their 50's.
Not all Christian women are in a pit! And if they were, they do not need to be reminded of it by the questions asked in this bible study.
Based on the description, this was to be an action plan study to dress a woman for success. My shield went up on page 49, with questions about feeling injured and wounded by words, forgiving and get over hurts, etc. Then on page 50 the words "You'll no longer be one of those "weak women lead by various impulses" sparked me to draw a frown face with the caption "this book does not define me." I decided to continue the study and any question I found trying to bring me down I put a frown. I did put a few happy faces but way more frowns.
Then on page 97 my frown grew eyebrows with an angry slant to them and ears with steam coming out of them ... lol. Here is the question:
"In the following areas, list any ways you detect disharmony, unrest, or an overarching lack of peace. (we'll refer back to this lesson during our exercise today, so take your time. This is important.)
*between you and a friend
*between you and a spouse
*between you and your child
*between you and your co-worker
Basically examine every part of your life and find something wrong with it, and do a good job because we are going to dwell on it.
I did enjoy the video sessions, but this book was cruel. I am sure this study will help some women ... too many better alternatives for me.
Priscilla is an excellent teacher, there are many biblical references, and she makes it personal by sharing her experiences. Love it!
I did have to go online to get the answer key to the fill in the blank sheets during the video sessions, as the leader kit did not have this included. Having the answer key comes in handy during the video sessions.
In summary, we are learning how to use the Armor of God & Prayer for our protection against the enemy ... today & EVERYDAY!!
