Bethany Weiss is ready to leave town. Tongues haven't stopped clacking in Jamesport, MO, since her daed, the bishop, was admitted to a mental hospital after hurting their small Amish community. But her sharpest wounds Bethany hides from prying eyes, quietly biding her time until she can take a chance at a new life—away from Jamesport and away from God.
Searching for a Home
Silas Beiler was kicked out of his own family's home. Dogged by a rough childhood and a family who blames him for each new disaster, he begins hitchhiking across the country, sleeping in barns where he can, working for food when possible—headed for Pennsylvania, in the hope of some stability.
A Memory of Lemonade
When Bethany spies a man asleep in the hayloft, she first fears the return of an unwelcome suitor. But when it is Silas who turns and speaks, the memories flood back: a happy summer six years ago full of lemonade, long walks, and budding courtship. Now, however, those months of bliss seem naïve and idyllic. Will their old love overcome new pain? Or will hurt and rejection continue to haunt their path?
KavRCanadaGender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Exceptional storytellingJune 12, 2017KavRCanadaGender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Not your typical Amish love story. These are flawed characters struggling to overcome the emotional scars accumulated from a lifetime of dysfunction and abuse. It's gritty and harsh -- emotionally shattering in places -- but ultimately triumphant as both Bethany and Silas find their way to a full understanding of grace.
Bethany feels invisible -- especially to God. She lives to serve and submit and longs for escape. Deeply wounded, her behavior can sometimes be erratic as she flounders to make sense of her world. Silas has so much to offer but he holds back out of fear. These two made a connection when they were youngies attending singings. In fact, Silas used to single Bethany out...and then he and the rest of his family left the community. But now he's returned -- just passing through on his way to a new future. Hearts collide once again, only there are no guarantees that Bethany and Silas will be able to create something long lasting this time round either.
I don't want to say too much more about the plot, because there are things we learn about both hero and heroine that propel the plot along in surprising ways. The author digs deep into the psyche of both, successfully pulling me into their lives and making me feel a gamut of emotions that left me reeling. Tremendously touching, sensitive and ultimately hopeful.

What a fantastic story!!! Laura sure knows how to make my mouth fall open and my emotions come to a head.
Have u ever heard this saying that sticks and stones may break me but words will never hurt me? So not true!!! Words do hurt! It's called verbal abuse and is sometimes worse than physical abuse.
I strongly related to Bethany in this regard. When someone says a hurtful word it stays with us the rest of our lives and it is hard to forgive.
Even when parents say hurtful words to us it hurts us as it has me.
My dad was the world's worst about doing this. I don't think I have ever forgiven him to this day. Oh I try I really try but it's so very hard!!!
Bethany is a really sweet girl who tries to hard and wants someone to loved her like I do.
I loved Bethany from the start and I believe she still has a story to tell. It's not finished yet.
As far as angels being around I believe in them whole heartedly.
Angels guard us day in and day out even when we lose our way.
I saw an angel after my mom passed away that same night.
Silas is my hero! He's a rock for Bethany in their times of trouble
He's strong and has a lot to get through before he and Bethany can really love each other like they're supposed to.
I love how the Amish support each other in any event no matter what it is.
To me, this is a pretty special story. It will bring you to tears in some places and in others it made me snicker.
I am with Bethany. Chocolate is wonderful!!! It's a balm to sooth the broken heart and hard feelings no matter what the case may be!
Chocolate is wonderful no matter what and guess what? Fudge is my favorite!!!
I loved this story in more ways than one.
Laura has a way with her writing that will keep you turning pages until the last one turned.
Laura, i love reading your books.
Will Bethany and Silas have their own story to share in the near future?
I really strongly recommend this book for people who love reading Amish stories
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and all word are my own
Mrs ARS5 Stars Out Of 5Searching for LoveFebruary 24, 2017Mrs ARSQuality: 5Value: 0Meets Expectations: 5The Amish Wanderer is a grittier and edgier Amish novel dealing with abuse- physical, emotional, and spiritual. Bethany and Silas have both experienced abuse from those who should have loved and protected them. Silas is on the run from his past and Bethany wants to be on the run to her future. This story takes place over a shorter period of time and we get both of their perspectives. There are some twists and turns this story takes, but more than anything we really get inside their heads and see what is really going on behind their actions. The feelings of unworthiness, the sense that their spirits seem broken, and both barely holding on to the thread of hope that God does really love them come alive in this very transparent read. So this story was much more of an emotional one as we watch these two grasp the love of God.
I like how the author shows the love of the Father God in her story and answers questions that we all have had or will have at some time in our lives. Like the big one; why does God allow bad things to happen? I enjoy this author's work as she gets down to the nitty gritty of human behavior without the sugar coating or glossing over of the harder things of life.
I received a copy of this book for free. I was not required to give a positive review and the views and opinions expressed are my own.

It took me a while to really get into the story BUT it was not the book, it was what I had to deal with in my own life during this time. Once I was able to really take a little time to read, without falling asleep, lol, I didn't want to put it down. Thank you Laura for another winning story.

They are both having to learn to put their trust in God. They have both endured some painful times and are learning to overcome them. This has to be one of my favorite books by Laura that I have read. Everything is well written and is really keeping my interest and I don't want to put it down. I received a copy of this book from Celebratelit for a fair and honest opinion that I have given of my own free will. Don't forget the giveaway at the end.
