The Adventures of Abigail - Second Chances, brings to life the stories behind the dreams of a young Christian woman, Abigail Richards. One seemingly ordinary summer Saturday she discovers a beautiful antique quilt with a mysterious poem embroidered on the back. Collecting the treasure from along the roadside, Abigail solves the poem's riddle and is whisked back to the year 1863. Abraham Lincoln is president, the Civil War is in full swing and Abigail has traveled more than 125 years back in time. Her romanticized ideas of living in the nineteenth century come to a screeching halt when she must learn to cook on a wood stove and live without modern conveniences. More importantly, she discovers how she has become who she is through a delightful pioneer family and learns how important courage, sacrifice and a strong family base was for our pioneer ancestors as they established a firm foundation for America. Brenda grew up on an Illinois farm in the same township that many of her ancestors help to settle, and accepted Jesus Christ while in her mid-teens. She attended local schools, received an Associates Degree in Accounting at Illinois Commercial College and is currently the church secretary/treasurer in her local non-denominational church. An avid student of genealogy and local history, Brenda developed a knack for writing in high school as editor of the school newspaper and, in later years, from writing training manuals, newsletters, booklets, etc., and as a contributing historical writer for a local newspaper. Brenda's foremost goal in life has been to pursue a life of integrity and biblical morals that would bring glory to God and gives Him the credit for all good things in her life. "For in Him, we live and move and have our being. . . We are His offspring." (Acts 17:28)
