This book is a wonderful for capturing the focus of early or challenged readers. The graphics are exciting, and while some of the words may be challenging to early or struggling readers, the pictures help them follow while they build reading skills. We already own a copy of this for our daughters, aged 7-13, and they have really enjoyed it - especially the oldest. We bought a copy for Christmas for a recently adopted 15 year old godson who has a brain injury, and reading difficulties. He looked disappointed at first when he heard the gift was a book, but he quickly became enthusiastic when he actually opened the book and saw that he could follow the action when his reading skills struggled. His mom is excited to have it to read together with him. My only complaint is that the binding on our first copy started coming unglued after several months use. Hopefully this one will hold up better, but it is still worth it to me even if this one comes loose if it help establish this young man's faith.
"Bible" is like reading an exciting comic book of history. Filled with action & makes the lives of those in the Bible "come to life". A great "extra" & fun Bible for kids (& adults :>). And I think would be helpful for those who learn & remember better w/ visuals. It exceeded my expectations!
I have bought this for each of my children and all the other kids on my Christmas list! Highly Recommend this bible! My kids are 2, 4 and 6 and for a year now the two oldest ones look at their Bible in their beds with their flashlight every night and never get bored of it. Excellent artwork!
I ordered this Bible as a Christmas gift for my 11 year old daughter. She has an extremely hard time understanding her KJV that she has completly given up on reading it all together. This action bible was recommended to me by many people. I've skimmed through the Bible and it looks like it will be great for her. It is very well put together and half the price on this website than other stores. shipping was as expected. I'll be looking to purchase again when my 2 boys get older.
When I was a kid, my father had a Children's Bible that he read to us every night. It had color illustrations that pulled no punches. The Valley of Dry Bones had a gruesome picture of the actual valley filled with bones and skulls, cool stuff for an imaginative kid, this action bible reminds me of that, which is a good thing! The pictures and action are great, but, that Children's Bible from my childhood, also had literal text that told more detailed stories and gave actual biblical detail so that I heard the entirety of what was being illustrated. I still remember the great picture of Esther pointing out Haaman as the man threatening her people and his look of shock and fear, it caused me to have a 3D view of the Bible that stays with me till this day.
The Action Bible brings Bible stories to life in some good ways, but there is a lot of scriptural content that is missing that will draw the student or child to search further. It is a good entry level and probably a great reading to kids at night story book, but out side of that I can't see it being very functional.
For what it is, it will be a powerful tool, but it MUST be used in conjunction with the actual scripture itself. I suggest pairing it with a New Living Translation, because the storytelling style would be similar.
