Have you ever asked, Why me Lord? I know personally that we will be tested as Christians. This compilation of Spiritual writings is a testimony to Faith. This compilation is also a testimony to God’s gift of families for it contains writings from three generations—mother, son, and granddaughter.
Although traditional, this compilation of inspirational writings and poems are relevant to this global based, social media twenty-first century. Interesting, most of my writings in this compilation occurred at the oddest times—while I was trying to sleep, while teaching, while relaxing or even while talking to others. Ultimately, this compilation of Spiritual writings reflect that life is a series of experiences. As our faith in Jesus is tested, we grow spiritually, emotionally, and sometimes creatively.

Tell us a little about yourself. My greatest achievement is that I know Jesus as my personal savior. This book as well as the forthcoming Reservoirs are results of my relationship with Him. Professionally, I am a college teacher, writer and analyst. I am also a member of the Trustee Ministry at the Mount Gillard Missionary Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama.
What was your motivation behind this project? Approximately twenty years ago, Jesus inspired me or literally gave me these writings. He also gave me Reservoirs. These writings would come to me at the oddest moments - i.e. while trying to sleep, while teaching, talking with others and driving. With pen in hand, I would start to write.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? Since writing is my gift from God, I hope that I will be able to touch someone's life; that they will make a commitment to Jesus. In addition to the Spiritual blessing, I hope that I will provide a financial blessing to my church, family and educational institutions. I would also like to start a foudation for the support of those in the ministry to offset the financial restrictions that are often a part of their Spiritual tests.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? That our Faith may be Tested offered me the the Spiritual comfort necessary to endure the backlash that were forthcoming from writing Reservoirs. It is a testimony to Jesus' omnipotence in knowing and providing what his belivers will need.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? Ironically, most of my readings might be academic. I do read entire books of the Bible and I am interested in the background of the authors and in the time periods in which they wrote. I am a scholar of the African American experience and am familiar with many contemporary writers in that field. One of the chapters in Reservoirs takes into account many of the classic writings about Black education. It has been interesting to me how my secular research does have a relationship with the Spritual writings and readings that I encounter.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: I just want others to know and understand that Jesus has a plan for your life. I had planned to be a lawyer, but went with my then husband to Atlanta and enrolled in Clark Atlanta and completed my terminal degrees in Political Science. Both That our Faith may be Tested and Reservoirs developed from scratch pieces of papers, twenty years ago. There were many rejections along the way; with manuscripts being returned to me unoppened. Of course this caused me to question to merit of these writings. But I was prompted by the Spirit to press forward; to understand that His timing is not our timing. And even as I complete this brief account of myself, I know that my all parts of my life are controlled by Jesus who is the author and finisher of our faith. And I am enternally thankiful to Him.
