Twelve lessons on three matriarchs of the faith, provide four truths each for readers to contemplate and incorporate into daily life. Kimmel writes with unassuming wisdom--she does not preach at the reader, but sits down beside her to mine the gems of scripture together. Both a pastors wife and a pastors daughter, June Kimmel has been married for thirty years and has three children. Active in the Ladies Teaching Ladies classes, Kimmel clearly knows how to communicate with women.
Using hymns, fill-in-the-blanks, and charts to help uncover the truths of the Gospel, Kimmel also asks the reader to contemplate actions and implement new found truths. Personal stories punctuate the study but do not distract from the context.
Perhaps the thing I enjoyed most about this Bible study was its focus on the Lord. So many distractions plague busy moms and working women, that it is a great relief to have reminders to look up and see the glory of the Lord. This study is undiluted truth, and will encourage the hearts of readers. I highly recommend it for all women who long to know their Savior in a more personal way. Ministry WifeHutchinson, KSAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5An outstanding study for womenJanuary 24, 2012Ministry WifeHutchinson, KSAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Our ladies Sunday school class used this book as a study and we were so blessed! It is refreshing to find a ladies study that actually focuses upon the truths of Scripture and not the summation of individuals. In this study we learned to know the Lord better through examining the lives of three different biblical women. As we worked through this study that is packed with Scripture, we saw a God who sees, cares, and hears us. After looking at the biblical examples, this study also provided opportunities for us to apply these truths to our lives and circumstances. There were numerous Scriptures to read and places to record our responses to God's truth. If you are looking for a study that will challenge, strengthen, and comfort your heart and faith, this is it!

Hannah Goodman1 Stars Out Of 5May 25, 2010Hannah GoodmanThis Bible study is poorly written, jumping from theme to theme with no discernable bridge or transition. In one section, she talks about and has the reader look up verses from Acts about the growth of the church in the first century, but she doesn't tie any of it in with her focus on God using the individual (specifically, the reader). She simply has the reader look up verses. No exposition or explaination or application. This happened often, in every lesson. The reader is repeatedly left floundering, wondering at the meaning of the listed verses, trying to figure out what relevance they have to the women the study is supposed to cover. There are a lot of blanks to fill out, but little guidance or application given by June Kimmel, the author, to guide the reader sufficiently. In several places where the reader has to look up Scripture to find an answer to fill in the blank, the wrong verse is listed. For example, in one section, the reader is to look up a list of verses that deal with sacrifice. Most of the verses speak of praise, obedience, family, service. Then, out of the blue, a verse in the middle of the list is about David buying a threshing floor and some oxen. There is also a lot of misinterpretation of Scripture, usually from taking verses out of context, in this book. June Kimmel seems to know a lot of verses, but applies them with a broad brush, ignoring what the verses actually mean and who they were originally written for or about. She misses the point often.Lastly, Kimmel makes a lot of Scripturally unfounded assumptions about the three women who are very loosely studied in this book. She assigns modern motives and feelings to each of them, taking the women grossly out of their cultural context, thus misrepresenting them as well as their situations.I would not recommend this book.
