MauriKansasAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Under the Texas MistletoeDecember 22, 2021MauriKansasAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for Under the Texas Mistletoe: A Trio of Christmas Historical Romance Novellas - eBook.Though I had previously read two of the novellas in this collection, it was fun to read them again. I always enjoy a visit with the Archer brothers and their families and An Archer Family Christmas did not disappoint. The other novella I read for the second time was Gift of the Heart. Ruth, Naomi, and Bo's story was just as good this time around. A Texas Christmas Carol is a clever western retelling of A Christmas Carol with a good mix of humor and romance. I bought the edition with a bonus story, My True Love Gave to Me, about a young man using ingenious gifts to convince his love's father that he was the man his daughter should marry, not the wealthy city man who wants to court her. The author also included a short Christmas devotional and a couple of recipes. It's a wonderful Christmas book.

An Old Fashioned GirlMinnesotaAge: 25-34Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Sweet collection of historical Christmas storiesOctober 18, 2021An Old Fashioned GirlMinnesotaAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4A Texas Christmas Carol: It's obviously a Texas-romance retelling of A Christmas Carol, and there were a lot of sneaky references to it throughout the story. My favorite line was when Evan Beezer yells to his assistant, "Bob, scratch it!" It was cleverly told. I'm not a huge fan of the original story, but I did enjoy this version.
An Archer Family Christmas (previously published in the e-book An Old-Fashioned Texas Christmas): It was wonderful to see the Archer clan again, and I really appreciated that Jim and Cassie finally get their own short story! Their whirlwind romance and marriage took place as a subplot in Short-Straw Bride, so they haven't had a story told from their perspective until now. I hurt for Jim and Cassie right off the bat, but they do get a bittersweet miracle after a pretty hair-raising encounter with an outlaw gang. While not a romance, it is about a couple who are still very much in love and uphold each other in their deepest hurts.
Gift of the Heart (Previously published in The Christmas Heirloom: Four Holiday Novellas of Love Through the Generations): The problem with including children in a story is that they tend to steal the show, and Naomi is adorable--both sweet and wise for one so young, as she demonstrates in her unreserved love Beauregard, even before he (by worldly standards) earns it. But the romance is sweet too. Really, Bo is just plain sweet and not at all the stereotypical wealthy tycoon one would expect. -

DeborahA5 Stars Out Of 5Highly recommended for anyone who loves God and loves love.October 10, 2021DeborahAQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This collection includes three Christmas novellas and some Christmas devotionals, topped with a delightful Christmas treat recipe.
I love Christmas stories. Some of these I've read in other collections, but some of it was new. I devoured them all. I love Witemeyer's writing style. I love her strong female characters and the supportive, slightly flawed, (and swoon worthy) heroes. She has a great talent for strong men of God, and she is so clever with details and names. Names mean something in these books, and I love that.
If you don't put this book on your TBR pile, you will regret it! These are clean, inspiration, moving, touching, funny, and romantic stories. Highly recommended for anyone who loves God and loves love.
