first the #negatives: the print text is a bit light and the b/w photos lack sharpness - contrast, wish it had color pics and was smith-sweyn.

#positives: concise and not wordy/fluffy, each hebrew bible book covered individually, seminary level introduction to textual and literary criticisms, thoroughly rooted in christianity with solid theological coverage in each chapter, academically counters many liberal viewpoints, makes for an excellent and accessable academic reading for bible studies at home, seminary and pastoral work.

Richard Hess has done an outstanding job with providing great detail about each of the 39 books of the OT. I am currently taking Israel's Prophets and Poets through Heritage Christian University and my professor was correct when he stated that this book would be an immense aid with the papers we are required to write.
