KaraAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Tell Me About PrayerOctober 11, 2014KaraAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Tell Me About Prayer is an Easy to Read, Easy to Understand childrens book created by Stephen Elkins. It is illustrated by Ruth Zeglin and Simon Taylor-Kielty. It is designed to use a train locomotive theme as a method for teaching kids core Christian beliefs and principles. It is based on Proverbs 22:6, which says, Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
This interactive book comes with a CD and stickers to enhance its message long after the story is finished. It includes Discovery Land, Story Junction, Bridge of Song, Learning Station, Decision Depot, and Prayer Place. Its adorable illustrations add to its charm. Also, it is part of a series that includes books on topics such as baptism, church, faith, grace, and salvation.
I was impressed with this book. I especially liked the interactive methods used to teach. The CD and stickers add to its appeal to children. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for childrens books that truly teach Biblical concepts.
I received this book free from the publisher and was not required to write a positive review.
Floyd JohnsonUpstate NYAge: 55-65Gender: male4 Stars Out Of 5Prayer for the ChildOctober 6, 2014Floyd JohnsonUpstate NYAge: 55-65Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4The is a delightful look at prayer from a young childs perspective. The entire text of the book is found on the CD along with 11 additional songs. The story itself also includes four of five songs - also included on the CD. Because the CD includes the story, the book is suitable for pre-readers as well as early readers.
The story should be easily understood by children of all ages - each page includes colorful pictures that will hold the childs attention. The story is read by Conductor Steve (Elkins), an award winning music producer, and a chorus of childrens voices. Along with the story, most pages also include a potential memory verse that will become familiar with the child as he or she replays the CD.
My only concern is that, sadly, the lyrics of the 11 additional songs are not provided in the book or on the CD. No link is provided to a location on the INTERNET for these lyrics, though some are familiar and a little searching may assist in finding the additional lyrics.
The lively music, the colorful images, and the truth of scripture make this a wonderful gift for a parent, grandparent, or Sunday School Teacher to give a child as a Christmas or Birthday present - or at any time of the year.
