My son loves Teaching Texbooks. Math is definitely not my strong suit, so I feel a little inadequate in teaching it. This curriculum is fantastic. It also gives me the chance to walk away and give some one on one time to my kindergarten age daughter. My son is in 3rd grade, but tested at the 4th grade placement level. I would recommend taking a placement test on their website before purchasing.
I have homeschooled for 8 years now and have tried several math programs. My 2 children that are school-aged learn very differently and both have struggled with math from time to time. This is the first year that both children are excelling in math and they seem to be retaining it! Love this program, it has changed our school day in a very positive way. Now I feel like I have more time for other subjects.
We started with Grade 3 Teaching Textbooks - which is excellent. Grade 4 was wonderul as well. Both of my kids really like this method of teaching. It is SO easy to understand, giving step-by-step instructions - as though the teacher is right there with you. Explanations throughout were outstanding. Gradebook is easy to understand. I like that I can have my kids redo a lesson if it didn't go well (the beauty of homeschooling!). I do believe the other reviews - that each grade level might be a bit behind what is taught in public school - but no matter, because what is important for us is that we keep on going...the flow with this program is so good, that as long as we keep going with Teaching Textbooks, it doesn't matter what "grade" the kids are in. Looking forward to Grade 5!
We received TT Math 4 in the mail. It was so easy to install. My daughter who has been having a hard time understanding math jumped right on it. She loves it. It explains how to do the problem and grades it for me. It also has cute little icons that do different things as you progress, (or not). It you got a problem wrong, you have the option of having it show you how to do it. It frees me up to help my son with his studies. We all just love it. I wish I had started using Teaching Textbooks sooner.
