Product Description

The books of Ruth and Esther are wonderful Old Testament stories. In many ways, these stories could not be more different; set in different countries, separated by hundreds of years, one on the bread line, the other in a palace. Yet these two stories teach us about the same God, his faithfulness, sovereignty and redemptive plan for his world.

This incredibly useful resource, alongside the others in this growing ‘Teaching the Bible’ series, are for those who have the privilege and the joy of teaching or preaching a particular book or theme from the Bible. Whether you are a small group leader, preach, or youth worker, it will help you to communicate the message of Ruth and Esther clearly and faithfully.

Editorial Reviews

The book begins with a brief, but very helpful, chapter on How to Read Old Testament Stories, and proceeds to exemplify this exquisitely as the reader is led through the contrastingly beautiful and disturbing dramas of Ruth and Esther. Christopher’s characteristic mastery of textual detail married with theological clarity and richness is always stimulating, and preachers who want to apply the wealth of God’s grace and comfort from these ancient Christian Scriptures will find much here to help them do so.

~ William J. U. Philip
