Vanessa5 Stars Out Of 5May 25, 2001VanessaI've been using this book for three weeks to teach my 3 1/2 year old son to read. I really like that this program is scripted so all I have to do is read the instructions to my son and he has learned letter sounds and how to sound out words in the few weeks we've been doing it. This was the perfect product to choose to begin our reading program. We have been encouraged by how simple the lessons are presented. Best of all, with this book my son is learning to read and write -- each process reinforcing the other.

Jill Genn5 Stars Out Of 5March 19, 2001Jill GennI would highly recommend this book to anyone with a young child who is eager to learn to read. I have been using this program for about a month and my 3 year old is now reading at a first grade level. Although the teaching method is considered to be "out-dated" in our public schools, I don't believe that "new" is necessarily "better". I can't argue with success...this has been a delightful experience for my daughter and I.

Angie Cook5 Stars Out Of 5June 12, 2008Angie CookThis book works like magic. I am using it to teach my 5th child to read. After lesson 60 your child will be soaring. By lesson 100 they are on a second grade reading level. My son has language delays and this book has given him much needed confidence in the classroom.

Bettina Morton5 Stars Out Of 5April 15, 2008Bettina MortonThis curriculum is wonderful. It works and it is easy to use. Preparation time is minimal and lesson time is 15-20 min per lesson. I bought the book in 1987, used it multiple times, loaned it to friends, wore it out and am buying a new copy to use with my grandson. Whether you are planning for home-school, public or private school, phonics is essential. This book and the SRA Distar curriculm rates as one of best phonics programs available.
