Some of the team members don't think she belongs there. One of their friends applied for the job and she got it. Plus she's a woman. Cole Garrison is in charge of the SWAT team. He has to be careful not to cross any lines as he has known Kenzie for a long time. He also as feelings for her that he wants to hide. Things get worse when someone keeps trying to kill Kenzie and it doesn't seem to matter who gets in the way.
I like the action and how Cole and Kenzie worked out their feelings for each other. It kept me reading till the end.

SemmieAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Incredible BookJuly 25, 2024SemmieAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Lynette Eason continues her Lake City Heroes series with the incredible dual-timeline thriller "Target Acquired."
SWAT Medic Kenzie King is quickly learning that someone is out to get her. As her team is called to more and more fake calls, putting her life and her team's lives in danger, she turns to fellow SWAT member Cole Garrison -- the man she has always had a crush on -- to help her figure out who is after her, and why.
In the 1940s, Eliza Crane's father has her falsely institutionalized in a mental hospital. But with the help of her best friend Betsy and Dr. King, she hopes to find her way back to her beloved William.
How do the two stories relate to each other? And do the sins of the past lead to the sins of the future?
Once again, Eason creates a fast-paced, heart-thumping thriller that leaves readers guessing. She creates great characters that have past traumas and issues to overcome, but learn to rely on and trust each other. Through her story she reminds us that everyone needs hope; to not judge others; to not make assumptions; never give up on love; and to find forgiveness.
Fans of Colleen Coble, Kelly Irvin, Terri Blackstock and Irene Hannon will love this novel, which is due out Aug. 20.
Five stars out of five.

Debbie from ChristFocusHarrison, ARAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5How the past impacts the presentJuly 16, 2024Debbie from ChristFocusHarrison, ARAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5"Target Acquired" is a Christian romantic suspense. While it's the second book in a series, it works as a standalone. Kenzie was the most qualified person to apply for the spot of tactical medic for the SWAT team, but many on the team wonder if she can really pull her own weight (or, more accurately, pull their weight if they're injured). While she slowly proves her worth during call-outs, one team member resents that she won the spot instead of his friend. When she's targeted during fake call-outs and warned to quit the team during an attack, she and Cole begin to wonder if this teammate or his friend are involved.
The main characters were likable, capable people who reacted realistically to events. Cole supported and protected Kenzie, though he had trouble figuring out how to handle his growing attraction to her since he's now her team leader. She's been attracted to him for a long time. They worked well together. The suspense remained high throughout due to the ongoing danger to Kenzie and the team. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this exciting story.

arkmom5 Stars Out Of 5Action, action, actionSeptember 28, 2024arkmomQuality: 5Value: 5Kenzie King is a tactical medic on the SWAT team. Dream job, right? Well, it would be if the guys on the team all accepted and respected her. They are supposed to be a 'team,' after all. She got the job fair and square. She beat her own brother out for the position. She feels bad about that, although she knows being a medical doctor qualified her over him.
Then, attempts begin being made on Kenzie's life. At times, this has put other members of the team at risk. She offered to leave the team, but the members voted that she stays. Well, with the exception of one. Is he the one making the attempts on her life? After all, he has a friend who also applied for the position and lost out to Kenzie. No matter that she was more qualified than he was. Cole Garrison is the team commander and has had talks with the team regarding their behavior towards Kenzie.
And, what's a great suspense story without a romantic interest? Cole and Kenzie each begin to feel something towards the other.
This story also goes back to the 1940's with their grandparents as well as a third party. I love how the author, Lynette Eason intertwined the two stories and brought the past into the future.
The author also did a great job of keeping me guessing at who the villain was. Wonderful characters and story!
I was given an advanced ecopy by the publisher, Revell, through Netgalley. I was under no obligation to write a positive review.
