After a disastrous Middle East mission ends his six-year Army Ranger career, Finn McGregor needs some downtime. A peaceful month in the woods sounds like the perfect way to decompress. But peace isn't on the agenda once he crosses paths with publishing executive Dana Lewis, a neighbor who is nursing wounds of her own. Someone seems bent on disrupting her stay in the lakeside cabin she inherited from her grandfather. As Finn and Dana work together to discover who is behind the disquieting pranks, the incidents begin to take on a menacing tone. And when it becomes apparent Dana's foe may have deadly intent, Finn finds himself back in the thick of the action--ready or not.
Bestselling author Irene Hannon draws readers into a web of psychological suspense where danger lurks in dark corners . . . and keeps them captive until the very last page.

Fans will want to read Thin Ice and Buried Secrets so they don't miss a minute of the suspenseful series.
TANGLED WEBS is different than the usual run-of-the-mill suspense formula in that you knew who-dun-it and you know why, but you don't know how it will all play out. I had to keep reading to see if Finn and Dana would put the pieces together and solve it and how.
The story was a calm, quiet suspense. There were only a couple attacks, but it was more messing with the mind. I sympathized with the characters--all of them. I loved the waitress at the restaurant who saw it all...

Ex Army Ranger Finn McGregor has had his fill of trying to save people, only to watch them die anyway, so he rents a cabin in a secluded part of a forest to try to recover from PTSD.
Dana Lewis just wants to be left alone. Being the victim of a violent criminal act, she has also rented a cabin to try to put the event behind her.
Upfront I have to say, I had my challenges with this book. I struggled to get through it. It took me a few weeks to get through it because I put it aside to read other things. It just didn't seem to hold my attention the way some of her other books have done.
I thought that the storyline was superb, it was something that I hadn't see done before. So I think for me it came down to the two main characters, Fin and Dana. I had such a hard time with their relationship. Each was recovering from their own version of PTSD, and yet I felt that their relationship was just too rushed to be believable. There didn't seem to be any depth to it. We knew pretty much up front who the bad guy was, so there was no mystery, or suspense there. Also I didn't seem to that the characters were really Christian. Other than a couple of references to prayer and that they went to church a couple of times, there wasn't any mention of God or Jesus or the cross.
I don't know, for me the whole book just had a different feel to it than any of her other books. But I have lent the entire series out to several people who have thought that they were wonderful. So judge for yourself.
Fitzysmom4 Stars Out Of 5Review from Rambles of a SAHMJanuary 16, 2017FitzysmomQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4Tangled Webs brings the Men of Valor series to a close. In this final book our focus shifts to the baby of the family, Finn McGregor. If you read the first two books, Buried Secrets and Thin Ice, you've already become acquainted with Finn.
Finn was an Army Ranger for the last several years, but after a mission in the Middle East went bad he found himself without a definite career path. Knowing that he needs time to recuperate his brothers arrange for him to have some downtime at a friend's secluded cabin.
All seems peaceful and serine until a woman's screams pierce the night. That single event will change things for Finn in ways that he never imagined.
Dana Lewis is Finn's nearest neighbor and she's also recuperating at her family's cabin. She grew up spending lots of time at the cabin with her grandparents and it has always been a place of security and hope. Retreating here seemed to be the right thing to do but this time something is wrong.
I absolutely love Irene Hannon's romantic suspense books. This series has been especially intriguing because it involved three brothers that all have military careers. Each book can easily be read as a stand-alone title but if you plan on reading all of them definitely read them in order.
If your tastes lean towards suspense you won't be disappointed in this book or series. The action is fast and the characters are quite intriguing. Each of the situations are ones that we could easily read about in the headlines. I for one can't wait to see where her next series will take us.
I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review.
Kym2 Stars Out Of 5predictableJanuary 15, 2017KymQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 2Army Ranger Finn McGregor needs some down time after his six year career ends. He settles into a cabin in the woods, hoping the quiet will help him decompress. Instead, he finds Dana Lewis. She is nursing her own wounds, ones she would rather not talk about, ones that still haunt her. When a prankster disrupts Danas peace, Finn joins forces with Dana to expose the person. Doing so, however, could become deadly.
For about the first quarter of the book I was put into the right frame of mind, the story was set. By halfway through, I had solved the mystery. That, well, that kind of takes the fun out of reading the story for me. It dulls the action. It takes away the excitement.
*I received this book free from Revell in exchange for my honest review. What I have expressed are entirely my own thoughts.*
KavRCanadaGender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Another superb romantic suspense from a must-read authorJanuary 9, 2017KavRCanadaGender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5There's always a rush of anticipation whenever I get an Irene Hannon book in hand. I know I will settle into an absorbing story that will keep me buried in the pages for the duration of the read. No distraction is big enough to deter me from my reading pleasure...well, maybe if Finn McGregor in the flesh walked into my room I might spare a glance his way. :-)
So, Finn. Blissful sigh. Ex-army ranger on hiatus in the country surrounded by woods and lake and a rather intriguing and very beautiful neighbour. Their first meet is memorable. And Dana is packing quite a mystery which peaks Finn's natural curiosity. Hannon offers readers a tantalizing slow reveal of her background that kept me committed to turning pages in order to figure everything out. Love that kind of armchair heart-racing puzzle.
Their love story heats up pretty quickly but with all the wariness of getting involved in what is destined to be a long distance relationship since they live in different parts of the country. But the attraction is so intense it isn't long before they are falling hard and fast which results in some toe-curling, playful, sweet and heady romantical scenes. The kind I love to savor. :-)
As to the suspense -- this one is more mystery than suspense. And it's not one that we need to solve since Hannon lets us in on the who, what, where right from the beginning. An unusual twist for this genre but I found it engaging. And knowing what was happening while Finn and Dana are in the dark made the read edgier in a different kind of way.
If you are a Men of Valor fan you'll be thrilled to know that Finn's big brothers, Mac and Lance, make a few cameo appearances. And there's a beautiful, heartwarming scene at the end with the whole family together which wraps this series up perfectly. No worries if you haven't read Buried Secrets or Thin Ice because Tangled Webs reads well as a standalone too. I just get such a kick out of catching up with past heroes.
Another superb romantic suspense from a must-read author.
