The Christian church has a long tradition of systematic theology, that is, studying theology and doctrine organized around fairly standard categories such as the Word of God, redemption, and Jesus Christ. This introduction to systematic theology has several distinctive features: - A strong emphasis on the scriptural basis for each doctrine and teaching - Clear writing, with technical terms kept to a minimum - A contemporary approach, treating subjects of special interest to the church today - A friendly tone, appealing to the emotions and the spirit as well as the intellect - Frequent application to life - Resources for worship with each chapter - Bibliographies with each chapter that cross-reference subjects to a wide range of other systematic theologies.
Wayne Grudem is research professor of Theology and Biblical Studies at Phoenix Seminary in Phoenix, Arizona. He holds degrees from Harvard (AB), Westminster Theological Seminary (MDiv, DD), and Cambridge (PhD). He is the author of more than a dozen books including the bestselling Systematic Theology.
Jules5 Stars Out Of 5Systematic TheologyApril 22, 2016JulesQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This isn't a book you can give a snap review to as it's a book that is going to take years to use thoroughly and digest. However, knowing it from the past, having read again the introduction and his purpose and dipped into chapters on topics I am pondering - I can wholeheartedly say it is a book that has a wealth of knowledge and usefulness.
I'd recommend it as an addition to any bookshelf to be used as a consulting tool for clarification and faith building. To help understand this faith we are living out daily.
Kim5 Stars Out Of 5Systematic Theology: An Introduction to Biblical DoctrineMarch 16, 2016KimQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0Great in depth, thought provoking read! Why do you believe what you believe? Or have you ever thought about it? Would recommend reading this so you know why the American churches are dying and why so many are leaving the church. Is the church still standing on truth or have they slowly taken small subtle steps away from the Truth that no one noticed and have been deceived?
