The author goes in great depth with the correlation of many resources and, at times, seems very rhetorical in his discussions. However, if you are willing to "wade into the vast ocean to find the main river bed" the theological house appears to rest upon a solid foundation. To grasp the depth of the author's arguments, one must be able to read and comprehend the various languages of past theologians: i.e., German, Latin, Hebrew and Greek; for the author quotes his sources in their original text without any translation into English. I would only recommend this product to those with an advanced educational background.
Classic work, excellent author, in my view this is one of the best systematic theologies out there. Written for it's time, but still 100% relevant to our day. Only downside is that the Greek and Latin are not translated throughout, but this does not affect the readability or clarity of the text to a great degree.
I couldn't believe the price offered by CBD! This is certainly a nice work of systematic theology. However, it would have been nice if the Latin portions were translated to English. Other than that, stellar!
