Winner of the Western Heritage Wrangler Award, A Sweetness to the Soul is based on historical characters and events. At the age of twelve, Jane Herbert faces a tragedy and rejection from a cold mother, which leaves her alone in the wilderness of Oregon. This novel describes in amazing detail the trials and tribulations of being a pioneer and being one of the first in the west, along with the joys, pain, fear, and love that were a part of that life. Jane's life-long search for forgiveness and love offers a testimony to the miracle of God's healing power. Jane Kirkpatrick, softcover, 420 pages.

Julie Kinkaid5 Stars Out Of 5August 13, 2010Julie KinkaidI read this book when it first came out, several years ago, and became an instant Jane Kirkpatrick fan; have collected all of her books since! This story is so captivating, and Jane makes you feel you are living within the story; she always makes me feel empathy for her characters, even when I don't feel that at first. Wonderful!
Valorie Schofield5 Stars Out Of 5April 14, 2009Valorie SchofieldThis is a very touching story, a composite of real characters living in a time and part of the country unfamiliar to me. I would recommend it to anyone seeking to understand more of this country's history.
