Lovely But 3 Flaws I Had To Edit Out Of Digital Version Instead of Playing CD

Teddy bear Susan Boyle is as endearing as her voice lovely but as with "The Gift" Christmas album I cannot give this one as a gift either, and I can listen only in digital format after I edited it, on diminished laptop speaker instead of CD/better boom box, since I had to remove from the digital file this album's anti-faith/anti-Bible song by rock band Emerson Lake & Palmer, commented more fully below in a review by Renata ("I Believe In Father Christmas") unadvisedly included in this Christmas album of faith, and awkwardly at odds too with Susan's sweet delivery mastered in the delightfully orchestral/chorale and lounge music stylings of this album.

I also removed from my digital file her rendition of "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" with its error mixing up lyrics as "Faithful friends who are near to us become dear to us once more"--'Familiarity breeds contempt' until Christmas relenting???

And Elvis doesn't sound his best, though Johnny Mathis does. Otherwise this album is purrfect, so I enjoy the remainder of the recording after removing the flawed songs, even despite laptop speaker since the recording volume is strong and Susan's angelic voice clear and polished.

I'm enjoying sampling her other Christmas CDs too though "The Gift" album contains an unfortunate song selection, too--"Hallelujah" penned by angry man to dominatrix disloyal girlfriend--which Susan Boyle manages to deliver as a hymn despite the lyrics, but certainly not Christmas.

I've always enjoyed Susan Boyle since I saw the video of her during "Britain's Got Talent." However, now and again she includes songs on her albums which I feel don't suit the rest of the work. One song in her repertoire is "I Don't Know How to Love Him" from, alas, "Jesus Christ Superstar." In this album is included, "I Believe in Father Christmas" which sounds innocuous enough. However, the lyrics are:

They said there'll be snow at Christmas

They said there'll be peace on earth

But instead it just kept on raining

A veil of tears for the virgin's birth

    I remember one Christmas morning

A winters light and a distant choir

And the peal of a bell and that Christmas tree smell

And their eyes full of tinsel and fire

They sold me a dream of Christmas

They sold me a silent night

And they told me a fairy story

'till I believed in the Israelite

And I believed in father Christmas

And I looked to the sky with excited eyes

'till I woke with a yawn in the first light of dawn

And I saw him and through his disguise

I wish you a hopeful Christmas

I wish you a brave new year

    All anguish pain and sadness

Leave your heart and let your road be clear

They said there'll be snow at Christmas

They said there'll be peace on earth

Hallelujah, Noel, be it heaven or hell

The Christmas we get we deserve.

As a Christian, I find these lyrics disturbing. Some may not, but I felt the need to make others aware.

Otherwise, this is a beautiful album with some wonderful pieces of music.
