Tell us a little about yourself. Originally from the beautiful county of Devon in England and now residing in Australia, I am a wife, mother, daughter, animal lover, and ex-nurse. Writing has been a passion of mine since 1999, when my mind was flooded initially with children's poetry. This, over the years, has blessedly become inspirational.
What was your motivation behind this project? I have been writing on and off since the late '90s. Over the last few years the Lord has impressed many poems and song lyrics upon my heart and helped me place them upon my blog poetrycottage.wordpress.com. My dream was to see them in print. I'd love to have individual children's colour books; but the cost would be way too much and because of this I have placed the children's poems inside Sunrays and Lily Smiles along with the inspirational works.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? It is my heart's desire that many will be blessed, comforted and given hope. That joy will be shared with the children, and joy replace broken hearts.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? I must admit there were days when I couldn't keep up with the quantity of words that the Lord was giving me, due to illness which has been longstanding. I wanted and still do, so much to write, write, write; but computer work doesn't really like my neck much. I choose to ignore it and keep on writing. It's for the Lord's glory. Not mine.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? First and foremost, my greatest influence/source of inspiration is the Lord, without whom none of this would have been possible. I love the works of the olden day authors, Frances Ridley Havergal, Isaac Watts, Amy Carmichael, Edith Gilling Cherry, John Wesley, John Bunyan, Charles Spurgeon, F. B. Meyer, George Herbert, A. W. Tozer and today David Wilkerson, Ray Stedman ... I could go on for a while :-)
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: (Taken from back cover) In Sunrays and Lily Smiles, Liana Wendy Howarth has added to and included previous writings from her e-book, Fragrance from the Spring, a sweet collection of poetry for all ages. Inside her Poetry Cottage, youll find something for everyone, from the little ones to the elderly, for the sick and for those who feel like there is no hope, or for those who just find great comfort in reading and rejoicing. Theres a special room waiting for you. Come inside and feel love embrace you. Walk the garden and be immersed in heavenly fragrance. Stroll around the tranquil pond and see health and encouragement reflected. You will leave feeling refreshed and find your joy restored. Its a retreat for one, somewhere to share with best friends or a perfect place to enjoy a cherished family vacation, where youll be blessed with many treasured memories for years to come. A COTTAGE BY THE SEA The sea foam, it rises Breaking forth from the waves The seagulls signify their presence And the sand dunes, a path they pave Follow the path with me A quaint cottage rests quite near With roses and sweet daffodils Climbing trellises at the rear Take a dreamy look with me Through each exquisite window Please seek a room that suits your needs And there youll find joy and comfort ... like the promise in the rainbow
