For me The Stress Cure arrived right in the midst of a situation that had me in knots. Once I picked the book up and started reading I began to realize that even though I had been praying about the situation with my mouth, my heart and mind remained detached.
From the beginning of the book Linda reminds us that stress comes in all shapes and forms. Not all stress is a big life-changing event. Sometimes it is several little things that just seem to build up. No matter what brings the stress on, it can certainly be changed by diligently conversing with the Father and allowing Him to speak peace into the situation.
I first became acquainted with Linda's work in her series The Potluck Club. She has brought her wonderful storytelling skills to this book to help you understand all the aspects of stress and how to deal with it. She uses Scripture for the basis but then fills in with her imagination to make the point.
We all have stress of one form or another. The Stress Cure is the answer to how we can manage that stress and live our lives in the peace and freedom that God intended for us. This is an encouraging read that will surely bring you into a closer relationship with the Father.

Im telling you, it makes all the difference in the world in finding personal peace. Or not. Anytime Im feeling overwhelmed, Ill be picking this book up again. Great resource!

Linda Evans Shepherd knows that all of us have to deal with stress. How do we deal with this? Stress left unchecked can do irreparable damage and eventually will kill us. Is the answer cut back on what we schedule? Eat better? Exercise? Sleep better? While all these things are good for us and we should implement them the real answer is prayer. What we need is peace and since Jesus is the Prince of Peace the way we find peace is to talk to him about what is going on in our lives. In The Stress Cure Ms. Shepherd gives us twelve chapters on the things that stress us the most. Each chapter ends with a yielding prayer that gets us focused off that particular problem and onto God. This is a book that you will refer back to again and again. A great resource!

The book was different than I expected. From the title I expected to be led through a way of praying or living that would help reduce overall stress in my life. Instead I would call it more of a reference book. For example, if you are feeling overwhelmed or burdened, there are specific chapters that deal with each of these issues. Each vignette is well written. Along with personal examples and Bible based prayers, the book also includes a fictionalized account of one of the stories from the Bible to further illuminate the point.
Although the book was not what I expected, I found it to be well thought out, well written and very useful as a topical reference book. If this is what you are looking for, this is an excellent one to acquire! I want to thank Revell Group who gave me this book in exchange for an honest review.

We need to choose joy in all things we do, and keep God first and find an attitude of gratitude! A true remedy to stress is prayer! To find joy in the Lord, we must yield to His presence. Psalm 86:4 Rejoice the soul of thy servant: for unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.
Think of three things you are thankful for: These are my 3 for today! 1: God 2: husband who takes care of us! 3: 6 children and 7 grandchildren!
It seems like we can at least find 3 things to be thankful for! So lets live in gratitude or thankfulness!
How about making a journal and filling it with things you are thankful for!! Its kind of hard to be stressed and without joy when your writing out every day something you have to be thankful for, lets start out with 3 things everyday we are thankful for and go from there, and if you really cant find anything that day then write down 3 of your biggest problems and then thank God for them!!
