Joseph5 Stars Out Of 5Quiet StrengthJune 30, 2020JosephQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5It is so encouraging to know life is not perfect at any level. Tony Dungy has gone through so many peaks and valleys in his life while seeking God for direction and giving Him the glory. Somewhat like JOB in the bible. An inspiring mentor with an abundance of wisdom and life experiences that can't be measured in just words. Highly recommend Quiet Strength, even if has been around for over a decade.

He wants us to touch lives wherever He leads us."
Wonderful insight into a life well lived; using the simple, ordinary life principles found in the Bible to make a difference in the lives of those around him, Tony Dungy has single-handedly branded the phrase "mentor leader". He has not only "talked the talk" , but "walked the walk, even when his faith was severely tested.
It's no wonder this book has been a best seller!
Aaron5 Stars Out Of 5Quiet StrengthMay 16, 2017AaronQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Quiet Strength by Tony Dungy is an extremely influential book that can be enjoyed by everyone. Tony describes his experiences on and off the gridiron, but this is not the typical athlete or coach rehashing their career. He tells his story in a very honest and raw way that makes the audience understand his feelings and paints himself as a very humble and down to earth guy. Tony shares of his time with the Pittsburgh Steelers and how he was influenced in a very positive way by some of his teammates. He recalls dismissing the alcohol and drugs that were used by some of his teammates and instead embracing Bible studies with other teammates. Tony shows his vulnerability when discussing not playing in the NFL because that is the only thing he wanted to do. However, he trusted in God and allowed God to guide his life which led to being blessed with a successful coaching career. Tony discusses how much he relies on God and how he lives a life that is in align with Christian principles. Tony stands out among the crowd because of his extreme devotion and passion for Christ. He writes about how he would share his faith with the players he coached. Tony stated how he cared more about the character of his players then their football skills. Tony is the ultimate role model in professional sports and in life. He has an incredible humble and compassionate attitude towards everyone he meets which is something everyone can learn from. This book isnt just about sports, but rather it is a book on how to live a life that is honoring to God while pursing your dreams. Football is used to share the story of a man who lives for Christ which is evident in the way he talks, acts, and carries himself. This is a must read for anyone who is wondering how to balance success and failure with a Godly lifestyle. I give this book five out of five stars for the life changing ideas and stories on each page.
Nolan Richardson5 Stars Out Of 5Great ReadDecember 3, 2015Nolan RichardsonQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 5I was very pleased after reading Tony Dungys book Quiet Strength. The book incorporates many strong life lessons, such as overcoming adversity in ones life, creating a very strong backbone to the entire story. While the story does focus a lot around Dungys football career and coaching career, it does not a take a football enthusiast or expert to understand the story. The book includes much background about Dungys personal life outside of football. As you read through the novel you cannot help but grow attached to his life. I loved this book because you can either read it alone by yourself, or read as a group of people or a family. Another significant element to his story is his commitment to his faith. He never loses sight of God through his trials, something that is an inspiration to us all. Many lessons can be taken away from his story, and most certainly be applied while you read through the book. As a whole the book is a very easy read. The chapters a short and precise, no extreme vocabulary is used, and the book is simply very personal. If there is any downside to this book it would be that maybe it is too simple of a reading. Some advanced readers may find the lack of challenge a downside to the book, but I would say that the simplicity of the book did not take away from the meaning whatsoever. Overall I really enjoyed this book. Its a great for anyone kind of person of any age. I definitely recommend this book.

12/3, Critical Analysis: Writing for Publication in the Real World
The book Quiet Strength by Tony Dungy is a christian based book. Tony Dungy is writing about his experiences while he was playing football. Tony started playing basketball and football during high school. Basketball was his favorite sport in high school. He then was the starting quarterback his sophomore junior and senior year. His senior year brought him great surprise as he was getting scholarships to play for college. Tony attended University of Minnesota and when he graduated he was drafted to play for pittsburgh. But to his surprise he was playing about all the positions besides his dream of playing quarterback. He kept his faith to God throughout all his struggles. While other guys on the teams were into drinking and drugs he stayed away from it knowing it could hurt his performances for football. Tonys friend helped him realize that football was not the most important thing to him. He knew God was way above that. After a few years of playing football for the NFL he then decided to start coaching. He knows thats what Gods plan was for him. He made sure that all the guys he drafted for his team were followers of God. They had bible studies and just talked about their faith almost everyday. Tony had to make many hard decisions as he traveled from state to state bringing his family along with him for many years. Although there was ups and downs, he always made God come first.
Tony always did what he thought God wanted him to do. Even if that meant moving a lot and giving up other things. His family and his faith were always the most important things for him. He made his decisions based off of what he thought God was telling him to do or what he thought God wanted him to do. I recommend this book to anyone who likes sport books. I think you would enjoy the book best if you understand football. Also if you like reading books about faith. This book could be difficult to comprehend if you do not know anything about football.
