Sacha Walicord5 Stars Out Of 5January 13, 2008Sacha WalicordBoth volumes of "Streams of Civilization" are among finest high school history textbooks from a Christian worldview I have seen so far. They are very sound and informative - but above all they are CHRISTIAN. Yes, it takes some work and it takes some discipline. This is education - what do you expect?! If we are only looking for resources which are "fun" and if we are not ready to work hard then let's forget about Christian education or even a Christian work ethics as a whole. If we always go the easiest way for our children then take a look at the public school system and see what you have to expect. If our children are "not crazy about reading" then we have to train them to become crazy about reading. This begins with being an example and instead of turning on the TV - take a book.
Laura Gutierrez3 Stars Out Of 5October 31, 2007Laura GutierrezThis book is a good source of information for the student who LOVES reading. However, for the kinesthetic learner, it is extremely difficult and extensive reading. It takes a lot of time to get through the reading of each chapter, and it's quite dry, with no color pictures. I know this is high school level, but it is difficult reading because of it's dry character. The only way I would continue using this book is if I strayed completely away from the reading material and focus on only covering the information related to whatever questions we choose to answer. The questions & projects at the end of each chapter are very good thought questions, but still require the student to read the book. For those who enjoy this kind of reading, it's excellent, but if you have a fidgety young man who's not crazy about reading, or History, choose something else.
Q: Is this really publishing date 2001? Or is it newer and the info hasn't been updated? I want the latest edition and can't tell for sure if this is it. Thanks!
The original copyright date on this book is 1995, but it is now in its 9th printing which is dated 2011.
