Karla5 Stars Out Of 5Suspense and IntrigueSeptember 15, 2019KarlaQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Colleen Coble has been a favourite suspense author of mine for some time.
Waiting for a new book is like waiting for a serving of delicious food. You wait and wait for it , then devour it as quickly as possible. This author dishes up novels full of heart pounding suspense and mystery, keeping the reader tense and on the edge of her chair, from beginning to end. This time, Colleen has managed to use interwoven tales that seemingly are unrelated. Readers are kept guessing as to what will eventually be the connection. This was also a learning experience. I had no knowledge of the uses of deep sea creatures, previous to this.
The characters are described in a realistic, detailed way, making them easy with whom to identify. Harper's quest for her birth father became mine as I travelled alongside her at this difficult time in her life. I felt her highs as well as her lows as she travelled this roller coaster called life. Each character had their own quirks, desires and fears.
The plot was outstanding as Coble displays her unique talent of taking two tales and creating a plot of intrigue, deception and a very frightening tale, finally showing the connection near the end of the story. The fast pace kept me guessing as to what would happen next. Twists and turns appeared at the most unexpected times. The world passed me by as I just could not put this book down!!
A fabulous new story of suspense, worthy of five stars!
I am eagerly awaiting the next one!!
This book was a gift. The thoughts and opinions expressed are honest and my own.
AnnelrBrighton, MIAge: Over 65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Hard to beat romance and suspense storySeptember 14, 2019AnnelrBrighton, MIAge: Over 65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Strands of Truth is another thrilling winner from author Colleen Coble. Having read a few other books by Coble, I was looking forward to reading this one and was not disappointed. Romance and suspense are a hard combination to beat. There is lots of action with some twists and turns in this multi-layered story where past murders are connected to the present dangers. It was hard to put the book down. Who would think that doing a DNA test could lead to danger and even death? Harper longed for a family--to be where someone loved her no matter what. Ridge doesn't quite trust Harper and yet knows she needs his help. Would they find who was targeting her before it was too late? And would they perhaps find love too? Strong characters, a fast-moving plot that kept me guessing to the end and a sweet romance all come together to make this a book readers who love romantic suspense stories will not want to miss.

MJSHNJAge: 35-44Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5another wonderful suspense from Colleen CobleSeptember 13, 2019MJSHNJAge: 35-44Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I have read quite a few of Colleen Coble's books and loved many of them, but this book is my favorite so far. The author is well-known for her complex plot, heart-pounding suspense, the gasp-inducing "that's who the villain is?" moment, easy-to-read writing, and deeply layered characters. She doesn't skimp on any of these in this book for sure. If you enjoy fast-moving romantic suspense that will suck you in from page one, you will totally love this book.
The book opens with a flashback and the flashbacks are peppered throughout the book to coincide with the current day investigations so that the readers are more aware of the meaning and importance behind what Harper and Ridge find. Though Harper and Ridge have been at odds since teenage years, they must pull together their resources and wits to try to figure out how the attacks on Ridge's father who is also Harper's mentor and champion, the attacks on Harper herself, and the attacks on Harper's newly found half sister Annabelle may be related. The plot is so well-crafted and well-executed that confusion with all the different information and dead ends leads slowly to understanding as strands of truth are pulled out from the muddy past and laid out to be seen without causing frustration on the reader's part because things don't seem to make sense at first. I'm not sure if this book is a stand alone or a part of a series but I would love to read more about Ridge's sister Willow and Harper's nephew Scott!
I received a copy of the book from Thomas Nelson via Celebrate Lit Tours and was under no obligation to post a positive review. All comments and opinions are solely my own.
ClaywalkerfanTulsa okAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5lot of suspenseSeptember 12, 2019ClaywalkerfanTulsa okAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Strands of truth
Someone is after Harper and Annabelle. The story is full of suspense of who is after them. Of course, we don't know who it is until the very end.
It all goes back to the past to do with their mother's. Both their mothers die tragically. Harper and Annabelle just recently find each other.
The book is full of suspense, and mystery. I never did figure out what who was doing it out. The author did a good job in keeping me in suspense.
I received a complimentary copy of the book from the publisher through Celebrate Lit. This review is my my own opinion.
TracyColumbia, TNAge: 35-44Gender: Female4 Stars Out Of 5An exciting story with an unexpected twistSeptember 11, 2019TracyColumbia, TNAge: 35-44Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Strands of Truth is a story about Harper Taylor, a young woman who grew up in the foster care system after her mother died in a mysterious car accident. Harper has always longed for family connection, having never known either of her parents, and has had a DNA test done to try to find family members, maybe even her father. Her search seems to be the starting point for a series of attacks. When Oliver, her mentor, business partner, and father-figure, is involved in an attack, his son, Ridge, gets involved. Ridge has always disliked Harper, believing that she uses his father for his money, but working together to unravel this mystery shows him a different side of Harper, one that begins to change his mind about her.
I enjoyed Strands of Truth. I've read all of Colleen Coble's books, and I like how she ties in something as currently popular as DNA testing in this one, and not just the potential that it has to help people connect, but the potential it may have to lead to hurt (in a rather dark and twisted way). In that way, it was a unique and original story line. And as always, I appreciate that I can count on her writing to be clean and to have some focus on Christian values, particularly trust, forgiveness, and grace in this book. Her characters were easy to like and to relate to, and over all, I thought Strands of Truth was a good read.
