I enjoyed the format of "The Story" and found it an easy read. For the beginner or seasoned reader, "The Story" developed and maintained a story line that lead the reader through the bible in a way that no other book does. It helped bring life to biblical characters, and color to a stark landscape of black words on a white page. It helped the reader imagine the actual event, painting a picture of history that is lost in more academic sources. A great book to introduce people to the bible in an easy to read format.
Excellent chronological Bible. I have purhased 12 copies and have given them away to relatives and my Bible Study Group. Our church is doing the study with sermons to co-inside. Easy way to read the whole Bible in a short time.
The Story is an excellent piece of literature as is all of Max Lucado's books. God had been working with me to read the Bible as separate books not to become so overwhelmed by the daunting task of reading the Bible but to concentrate on smaller pieces of the larger Book. When I saw the ad for The Story, who the author was and the low price, I purchased it. The formatting of The Story fit the bill, I even find myself wanting to learn more scriptures because the task at hand is less daunting and more enjoyable. I have and will continue to recommend The Story to friends.
NIV 2011 James 1:7-8 "That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do." I think it is unnecessary to have to resort to bad grammar. Dealing with the word "man" as mankind and explanation of when the passage means "men/brothers" or "brothers and sisters" etc. in the Preface would be sufficient.
