Publisher's Description

Go "storm chasing" through the pages of the greatest Book ever written! What storm has blown into your circumstances? Are you—or someone you love—suffering from the trauma of plans that have been washed away, relationships that have been uprooted, or security that has been devastated? Many believers have been known to ask, "God, where are You in this storm?" or, "Lord, did You send this storm into my life?" Just what does a believer do during a stormy season? StormProof: Weathering Life’s Tough Times tackles these and other tumultuous questions.
Author Carol McLeod is a storm survivor—more than that, a victor—over infertility, depression, and cancer. She understands the spiritual, emotional, and physical challenges of the trials we face in our lives. A gifted Bible teacher, she provides "life preservers" of hope and faith through the eternal, practical wisdom found only in God’s Word.
By examining key storms in the Bible, and the lives of those affected by them, Carol guides you to uncommon comfort for your own storms, offering the shelter of hope, joy, and faith. In StormProof, you will step out of the boat to walk the waves with Peter, knowing that Jesus always comes to be with you in the midst of your storms; you will be rocked aboard a wind-driven ship with the apostle Paul, in danger of being smashed against the rocks, but be preserved by God’s power; you will watch the gathering storm clouds with Noah, holding on to faith in God’s purposes. You will also experience Jonah’s self-inflicted tempest while affirming God’s unconditional love, sit in silence with Job and ponder his questions about the greatest storm of testing, and huddle with the disciples as their boat is swamped by surging waves—only to hear Jesus’s eternal words, "Peace, be still." You will also hear about storms of harsh circumstances that others from recent history have encountered and overcome.
Storms are common in every season of life. Yet, for a believer in Christ, the damage such storms cause can be contained, depending on how we navigate their tumultuous waves. There is a way—a triumphant way—to encounter the fierce gales of life and then exit the tempests with strength and resilience. There is a definitive way to walk through the most devastating of circumstantial tornadoes and emerge with grace, empowered for the future. There is a way to be StormProof.

Editorial Reviews

As a youth, a wise man told me that when choosing companions for life’s journey, I should look for those fellow "soldiers" who had dented armor. Those with shiny and pristine armor would be of little help when it came to navigating life’s battles. Carol McLeod is one of those valiant warriors with dented, scratched, and scuffed armor. If you are seeking advice on how to survive the storms of life, you’ve found someone who knows firsthand what it means to not just survive them, but also to exit them better in all the ways that really matter.

StormProof: Weathering Life’s Tough Times might just be Carol McLeod’s best work yet. Why? Because this woman of God knows a thing or two about storms, having thrived in the midst of some of the worst of life’s tempests. I believe this book was birthed from a place of authenticity and revelation about biblical storms. A must-read for every believer!

Carol McLeod reveals a triple-layered, foolproof way to not only survive life’s storms, but also prevail and pioneer the way for others into places and spaces of stability and destiny: she highlights powerful biblical stories, testifies of her own navigation in troubled waters, and offers appropriate challenges to the reader to be anchored in the face of his or her own circumstantial cyclones. Whether you have just emerged from a storm or are still in the middle of one, StormProof is a must to help you safely navigate through the inevitable, sometimes violent, storms of life. There is always a way through, no matter what. Carol clearly defines that way.

Resonating off each page is the victorious voice of my friend Carol, head held high, facing directly into any adverse winds, full of faith and hope. Her years of treasure hunting in the Word of God have equipped her to write this book, but its real power lies in the fact that she hasn’t simply studied hurricanes from the security of a safe harbor but has also experienced them as a sailor navigating the storms of life, with Jesus Christ Himself co-piloting her boat. It would be difficult for me to recommend anyone else more qualified by their life experiences than Carol McLeod to tell such biblical stories as Paul’s harrowing tale of being caught in a violent storm at sea. Indeed, a person doesn’t have much more to share with someone else than their own story. Carol’s story is one of perils, faith, faithfulness, and triumphs. The ship of her life should have been dashed on the rocks many times, but she clearly has her soul anchored to the hope that never fails. In StormProof: Weathering Life’s Tough Times, you will learn how your own soul can be bonded securely to Christ in the midst of any storm.
