i'll admit, I'm often critical of children's Bible story books. Often times the attempt to make stories more understandable results in something "off" in their theology. This book seems to have struck just the right balance. In it, ten new testament stories are retold in simple language while still conveying different aspects of Jesus: His humanity, His deity, His power, His love, His compassion, and His role as savior. Each story has an additional "mini story" that is one or two sentences that can be used with very young children or as a story summary. Bible chapter references are also given for each retelling, and there is a "thank you prayer" on each two-page spread. The illustrations provide just enough detail and the people are accurately depicted with slightly varying, mostly darker skin tones. This is a great book to help children understand who Jesus is, and why He is worthy of our worship.
